what the hell is wrong with you ? Nations make realpolitik decision all the time based on their interests.
Russia is a European oriented country - keep driving it away and it will have no choice but to align (further) with China ( sino-russian relations).

The USA is also a Pacific power; it's to our advantage to check China,but not Russia- at least if we can get some understanding with Russia.
Take your hysteria back to the 1980's. China is on a path to grow it's defense capabilities far beyond it's navy too.

Hey idiot here is the actual narative; having taken the drone in an obviously illconceived act, the Chinese immediately agreed to return the drone, "as soon as they figured out how.".

Trump had absolutely NOTHING to do with it.

The anti-Russian hysteria will subside after 1/20/17 when reality, finally, settles in.

I agree about Russia: they are arguably a more western than eastern nation/culture. Though it's admittedly a little simplistic to think of it in those terms.

At any rate, we are living in a post-Cold war world and it would be stupid to go back to it. The silver lining to the Islamist cloud is that it presents a threat to us and Russia; and common enemies make common denominators for political alliances.

Since Russia is west/east, driving them away risks a Russian-China alliance.

I suggest we not go there. Trump is right: we need to find a way to live with the Bear.

i'm concerned, but it's a done deal.sanctions or no sanctions-Putin is going to hold Crimea.
as to Donbass (east) he's already federated it away from Kyiv.

what needs to happen is a strategic understanding with Russia. I don't know if Trump's limited worldview is able to do that
-but he can use Tillerson as a go between ( Sec of State) who DOES understand Russia and work it out.

Clinton had nothing but to escalate Cold War. That helps no-one, but we need to get to some kina detente however it goes.

right. end the "mono-polarism" of US-West/Russian relations in favor of recognized ( tactic) spheres of influence.
It's a win/win for anti-terrorism and west/Russian relations all around. Russia can create enormous mischief, or we can find ways to co-exist.
