The more I read what he said, while often convoluted, I find myself thinking this may be a good thing.

It takes away powers assumed by the Federal Government through the commerce clause and the Necessary and Proper Clause. In the ruling it states that you cannot compel states to participate by threatening to defund other programs, and makes it so that a vote to repeal will only need 51 votes rather than 60 to overcome a filibuster. It puts repeal within reach, it labels a tax as a tax...

This can be far-reaching, a ruling in favor of States Rights...

I need to finish reading it. But it doesn't look to be the worst ruling in effect that I have ever seen.

This is not going to be a long standing precedent. Either the conservative majority will increase in size, and Roberts moderate position will be swept to the wayside, or the liberal majority will increase in size, in which case, the commerce clause interpretation, supported by 4 of the justices, will dominate. Roberts reasoning is the reasoning of Roberts alone, and while I do find it useful in furthering liberal goals, don't pretend as if it means much.

So, Damo, you're fucking glad that people in poverty will no longer be able to be granted medicaid? You fucking sicken me. How can you be glad about that? Every justice that ruled that the federal government necessarily must be a chump, simply giving out money without any right to put prconditions on the usage of that money, should be impeached.

My country hates me, well I hate my country to. You feel no loyalty to your fellow citizens? I feel no loyalty to you. I will get out of this fucking shithole of a non-nation at the first opportunity.

QUICK
Run outside and throw yourself into traffic; because it will get you out of where you don't want to be. :D

Actually, people in poverty will continue to receive medicaid even in states that decide not to participate in ACA, that is what the ruling states. The government cannot defund their Medicaid because they decide not to participate in ACA.

It was a good ruling in that it put a limit on the use of the Commerce Clause, defined the mandate for what it is (a volentary tax), and deffered to Congress by upholding a law that was able to be upheld under the various powers of the Congress.

So, what are your opinions of CJ Roberts now?

i think overall he's a fine fellow. unlike the leftists here, I dont immediately call a judge corrupt/political or say it's the end of the world and everything is unfair because there was a ruling I didn't like. I respect our institutions.

i plan on leaving america at some point in my life too. Sadly, all other developed nations are more socialist-y than here. But I think it's a tradeoff that even If I end up surrounded by money grabbers, at least they are smart elite money grabbers, rather than the prole ones we have in this nation. I want to move to nordic nation where everything is efficient and people can read.

Funny how all the nations that are better to live in are in your words more "socialist-y".

He called it a problem because he doesn't find them better to live in. He wants to sojourn, but has no real place to go...

a nation with the population of massachusetts, small geographical area, and natural resources functions very differently than a nation of 300 million unwashed masses.

I had to thank this post, being nordic and all, but really Grind, You are already here! Mass is as close to socialism as any of the states get, and we are openminded about it too. (King, Weld, Celucci, Smith, Romney, just in recent years alone). Plus we all voted for Hillary. Just think how that would have worked out if all the prole states hadn't dropped the ball.
Four more years of the Clintons in the white house.

You just need to try some of the fine weed I smoke, and be gratefull for what you have. It doesn't get any better than this.
