Chart of the Day

Anti freedom?

What you want is freedom for corporations.

I want freedom for people.

corporations are pieces of fucking paper.... they are run and owned by individuals. That is a factor you need to learn. All your bitching about evil corporations is amusing.... it is people that run them, own them and work for them.

If people like you dont like the way they are run.... they can choose not to buy their product or service. If you think whatever they do can be done better, organize a group of investors (however many you need) and start your own company to compete against them.

side note... the word is DESTROY

Look. There are very specific rules governing when a United States citizen that earns income does not have to pay income taxes on that income. it's not a simple process.

Corporations can more easily avoid paying taxes. Individuals not so much.
LOL, you are very naive then, what the hell do you think Caribean tax havens are or Swiss bank accounts?
It it the opposite to what you said, corporations have a harder time concealing things as there is more individuals privy to their numbers, whereas with individuals it is only themselves.

And you miss my point anyway, who says they need to stay as US citizens? When I said they can live anywhere, that is true, not many countries are going to refuse wealthy individuals with money to invest.

Rather than try and hunt them down to steal more of their money, try instead to cut an overzealous government which is the root of all the problems we have seen thus far.

Asset/wealth protection is not the same as income tax evasion. The first individuals can do by setting up offshore accounts. The latter they cannot.

And renouncing US citizenship doesn't work too well either since you still have to pay US income taxes for 10 years following your expatriation.

Sure they can, intermediary online financial entites like Paypal as one example, you can direct your income to go where you'd like. Assuming of course you earned it online, there is no point where the US government or any government can see what happened.

True, but good luck with them finding out what your income is once you've left for a haven.

If you are that determined to commit tax evasion, nothing is going to stop you from doing so. But it is illegal. That's my only point. You cannot legally avoid payment of income taxes by moving offshore.

This all started with you saying you can live and make money anywhere, which is true, but you have to pay income taxes on that income.

True, but good luck with them finding out what your income is once you've left for a haven.

Again, if you are that determined to commit tax evasion nothing will stop you, but legally you cannot avoid the obligation to paying income taxes by moving abroad and renouncing citizenship.

You can commit tax evasion without going through all that effort.

Well a lot of people already do and the higher taxes go, the more that will. As if we don't already imprison enough people in this country.

So your position is that people making over $250,000 will commit felonies because for every dollar over $250,000 that they make they will take home 60 cents as opposed to 64 cents?

No.

This is where you admit that you were mistaken and that no, it is not possible to legally avoid payment of income taxes merely be relocating out of the country.

I'm not saying everyone but there is a breaking point for all.
If tax rates are 5% just about all would pay. If tax rates were 95%, most would not pay or get out.
Obviously the higher you go, the more individuals you push into the latter camp.

You make it sound small but those cents add up because there is a lot of dollars there. I would STRONGLY recommend you read "The Millionaire Next Door" and you would understand how very interested many of the rich are in being very defensive about the money they make.
Too many people think of the rich as wheeling/dealing throwing money around Hollywood celebrity style people, when in reality most own a small business, took decades to become a millionaire and are incredibly careful with how they spend.

What does the millionaire next door say about committing tax evasion? Obviously, there is a risk-reward calculus. But where the reward is five cents per dollar of income earned above $250,000 and the risk is up to five years in prison on top of financial penalties and interest it's pretty clear where the calculus leads us.

Here is a real chart of the day.. Gosh i seem to remember the democrats freaking out over bushs deficit spending early on in his presidency.. Why no outrage at this ridiculous looking thing:

FYI.,.. and dont tell me this is Bush's fault that obama is creating a 2-3T deficit.. that my friends is his administrations penwork alone.

NOTE THE CLINTON YEARS!
