We don't have to honor that history, slavery was a stain, and the only thing that should be remembered from that time is that history should not be repeated.

These statues were erected in the 1920's to let Blacks know white men were still in charge, and watching over you.

It was a scare tactic to intimidate Blacks.

The confederacy represents actual American citizens, living Americans had ancestors that fought in the civil war. Slavery was not issue they were fighting over.
Very few of the soldiers on the battlefield were fighting to preserve slavery. That just shows your lack of understanding on the subject.
