I think the time is perfect for the legalization of Pot.

It would solve so much and add so much to our sytem.

LOL

OK, I am curious what would it solve & give to our system???

If we legalize it, some of the pot heads don't have to worry about going to jail, Ok that solves some money we have spend on them.

I read that a California democrat is trying to pass a law to tax it at $50.00 an ounce.
I am curious, what pot head would pay an extra $50.00 an ounce so he could buy it legally from the government? I think most would continue to buy from Fernando, the local illegal wetback that everyone goes to, for drugs. Once the government starts taxing it, you know its only going to go higher and as we all know democrats don't like to pay taxes.

Legalization would reduce congestion in the legal process, and allow police officers to focus on more serous problems. Smoking pot, while stupid, is in no way a threat to society.

& give to our system???

Taxing it at, say, 30% would generate enormous revenue. Even with the tax, it would still be less expensive than from the black market.

The illegal sale price has always been fairly high for what is initially invested. Thats why selling dope is such an attractive thing, the profit margins are high as hell.

With it being legally grown in the US, the price would drop like hell. Adding $50 an ounce tax is not going to slow the business much.

The benefits would be not sending thousands (that we have to feed and take care of) to jail. It will also take away all the police, prosecutor, and legal system costs for what is basically a victimless crime. And the tax dollars would be huge, especially at first.

It would also reduce the level of violence that we that live on the border with Mexico are currently experiencing. Cartel members are attacking each other in Texas and Arizona, including a kidnapping from the streets of Phoenix and gun fights on this side of the border in Texas. If you legalize it here, the need to import it from Mexico goes away and the cartels dry up, as that is their primary product. Mexico is also considering legalizing marijuana, though big brother USA is going to put the Kabash on that. The crime reduction would be tremedous.

What Sol has said here is pretty accurate.

Drug prices don't represent anything close to the true cost of production. Depending on how close you are to the source, probably at least 2/3rds of the price you're paying is going to various layers of mid-level dealers who can get away with charging that much because of the danger associated with handling it.
