So here's my question Dixie. What should he have said? This is the president of the United States. A country which guarentees every person in this country the freedom to worship god, or satan or the goddess or any other diety as they choose. Men and women have died for this right. We are the freest country on the face of the earth, we do not pass laws that women cannot wear the hiijab, we do not pass laws that keep people from wearing crosses or stars of david or pentagrams. This is what makes our country the successful experiment it is. So tell us all wise sage of all that is patriotic and american, what should the POTUS say about the building of a mosque two blocks from ground zero?

Are you really comparing them? Were they denied because people loathe their religion and see the church being there as an afront to some emo belief? The one where the zoning was denied if favor of the bar was because the bar was there first and zoning a church would have violated ZONING laws. You are comparing apples to oranges. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it and it is just plain dishonest.

If Catholics were going to build in the EXACT same spot there would be no outcry, no 75% of americans behaving contrary to the foundational principles of our form of government. This is not different than the people in this world that think guns are only for national guard purposes and I shouldn't be allowed to own one because some moron shot someone with his gun. Fair enough question, Sochead... I'll be glad to answer!

President Barack Obama is in a unique position as presidents go, one in four Americans believe he IS a Muslim, he certainly has a closer personal relationship to Islam than any president in the history of our nation. He is also an American, and claims to be Christian. The leader of the free world, holder of the most powerful office in the world. In the words of Nixon... Now is the place, now is the time!

Obama missed a rare and unique opportunity which could have probably only existed for someone with his particular background, to use leadership and conviction of principles to bridge the gap between Muslims and Christians in America. He could have delivered a speech to challenge opponents and proponents of the mosque to come together and have the dialogue, he could have spoken to the importance of debate in our country, and how we have historically worked together to sort through our differences, and do what is right.

Instead of using his leadership to try and bring two sides together, he used this opportunity to pull out the political hammer and bash the right again. Instead of a call for both sides to reconcile differences, he chose to take a moral high horse stand, and call opponents intolerant bigots who seek to suppress religious freedom. In doing so, he further divided people, and squandered an opportunity for possible immortal greatness, I think. All due to a complete lack of leadership ability. A great leader would have seized the moment, turned this into a positive, made America stronger and greater by taking a courageous stand. Instead, we get a typical divisive political hack.
 
1 in 4 Americans are retarded. There are a lot more proles than that, but 25% fail a very simple litmus test, proving that they suffer from aquired intelligence deficiency syndrome. At least its not 1/3, or we'd have some difficulty with that one...
