Chain smoker Obama writes another law and bans smoking in welfare housing

Joe Biden - "Time to put Trump in the bullseye."
This is an ok idea, but laws are supposed to be written by congress.

nov 30 2016 Smoking will be prohibited in public housing developments nationwide under a final rule announced Wednesday by the Obama administration.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has been encouraging local public agencies to enact smoking bans, and some 228,000 public housing units were already smoke-free. The new rule will expand the impact to more than 940,000 units.

In announcing the ban, administration officials emphasized the dangers of secondhand smoke to children, saying it can increase the risk of asthma, ear infections, even sudden infant death syndrome.

“Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, healthy home free from harmful secondhand cigarette smoke,” HUD Secretary Julián Castro said.

The final rule prohibits lit tobacco products in all living units and indoor common areas, and all outdoor areas within 25 feet of housing and administrative offices. The new rule gives public housing agencies 18 months to implement the ban.

Those "homes" are paid for by taxpayers...much like any government property. The inhabitants are living in "our" homes.

This is rather surprising. Dems have been shitting on poor smokers for years, and, yet, these are the sort of people who vote for them. Especially the ones in government housing.

"Where's the beef?"
Trump reportedly went multiple years without paying U.S. federal income tax.

You think his treasury secretary is going to stop collecting taxes? Shut down the IRS?

This is a silly, shallow, and substantially groundless topic. Even a chain-smoker can be aware that it's self-destructive behavior.
And even a chain-smoker in leadership position can set a responsible agenda on the issue; even if on some ridiculous level it seems hypocritical.

Would you think Obama a better leader if because of his own addiction, he did NOT act in the best interest of the Peoples he leads? To avoid seeming a hypocrite?

note:
The White House is government housing.

Would you like the president to have to make wee wee into a bottle at random intervals?
And if the president flunks the drug test, then what?

The law says s/he's the president.
So you want a homeless U.S. president?

For the rest of that president's term, hold State dinners at Taco Bell?

]It's not "their" home. They just live there.
it's public property, but it is still akin to a renter's rights.
It's stupid federal over-reach into the very basic living conditions;
the feds can prohibit illegal drugs -they are on shaky legal grounds with cigarettes ..and towards what purpose?

From the perspective of systems dynamics, there are multiple underlying problems. They include:

- Drug War: We should not be waging a War of martial oppression against ourselves, to usurp the unalienable right of Liberty. Make Drug War go away, and it advances solution to this problem.

- Public housing: Cabrini Green. Have we not learned the lesson yet?

There are better ways to care for the self-insufficient.
