The two things are not mutually exclusive. There is no such thing as a capitalist government, for example. Government by its nature is socialist -- and the level of involvement in providing services, benefits and protections to its population determines the degree of its socialism. Zero regulation or government intervention allows the private sector almost total control over the economy. Such a society doesn't really exist because it is unworkable and would cause immediate problems. This is why libertarian-ism as envisioned by free market purists is a fantasy and is an ideological dead-end.

Can someone who believes in localism and federalism (i.e. conservatives) explain why being a state legislator (plus a few token years in the Senate) doesn't qualify a person to be president? There may only be a few people on this site who are qualified to answer based upon my parenthetical term.
When you have no clue, it doesn't matter what positions you held nor how long you held them. Believing that government should function the way the Constitution dictates it should doesn't automatically mean someone elected to those positions because of skin color means they can do the job. Why do you believe that skin color is a qualification? I don't believe you will answer.
Unlike you, I don't believe black skin color makes someone qualified. It is only used to fulfill some social construct for bleeding hearts and guilt ridden white trash.
