and there lies the major flaw in your part of this discussion. If you read the OP carefully and comprehensively, you'll see that I don't let either party involved off the hook. My major contention with you is your "belief" that the USA is wholly responsible for this mess, and Putin and company are just being reactionary to a large degree.

I'd say all this is just a (predictable) continuation of the Cold War mentality. Between Putin and that idiot Shrub, things just went down hill. Funny thing is how the right wing media went after Obama for NOT ramping up the machine. Now they demonize Biden for doing just that. Go figure.

Party ? American aggression isn't party-political- it's a national characteristic. You can't see the wood for the trees.
The US is entirely to blame for the current European distress. What I don't fully understand- and what you'll never understand- is whether US foreign aggression, greed and hegemony is the result of arrogance or fear. Profit is in the minds of the military/industrial complex - but the motivations of those who enable it are made mysterious by complexity. Party ? You're not addressing the problem because you can't see it.

Very likely a few years after the war ends the Ukrainians will feel betrayed by America, so I doubt it works out this way. Besides, America is in collapse.
