Capitol Police arrest man carrying machete, bayonet in truck near DNC headquarters

Still part of US, using your logic, any legislation passed there would not apply anywhere outside DC

The Constitution is for the United STATES of America. D.C. is a federal territory where our government resides. It is natural to have security measures in place. No different from the military bases. Do you have the right to carry a gun on a military base without permission?

DC is not a military installation, no gates to enter and leave are present. One can travel any road in or out freely. I carry my glock every time I go there, Virginia, or any other batshit crazy based state

Okay then petition for them to change the laws. Call your congressperson.

BTW I do get your point.

This is the statute in D.C.

No person shall within the District of Columbia possess, with intent to use unlawfully against another, an imitation pistol, or a dagger, dirk, razor, stiletto, or knife with a blade longer than 3 inches, or other dangerous weapon.

The intent is in question here.

The machete could be dismissed but bayonet? What is that about? And why parked next to the DNC HQ?

I hadn't noticed this thread before.

Was there a waffle house in the area?

He could use the defense that he was planning to order a waffle house steak.

Sometimes you need a chainsaw to cut them.

U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man carrying a bayonet and machete in a truck bearing white supremacist symbols near the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington on Monday.

A patrol officer noticed the Dodge Dakota pickup with a swastika and other white supremacist symbols outside the DNC headquarters around midnight. A picture of an American flag replaced the truck's license plate.

The Army gave bayonets to a historic unit to attach to their rifles in addition to live ammunition as the Pentagon equipped soldiers to deal with protests in Washington, D.C., Bloomberg reports. Defense Secretary Mark Esper and General Mark Milley wrote,

And where is his intent to use unlawfully against another? Just having one does not prove intent!

Okay then we'll see what his intent was.

Protip: if you are in D.C. and parked next to any of those buildings, do not have them visible.
