OK. I have made an argument that most rich people gained their money deceitfully, one way or another. Every rich person I asked, justified this.
Finally I meet a wealthy Christian. I'm thinking surely this guy made his money honestly. Turns out? He told me he worked for the Philipino type CIA. They would bust drug dealers that were not part of their trafficking ring, and then give the drugs to him to push them. Nice hey?
This guy although owns a million dollar home is the cheapest guy you will ever meet. He shops at places like goodwill and Salvation army, basically places that are meant to aid the less fortunate. He buys everything either on line from China or does border shopping in the US.
And the gas to get there? Well he took me and another guy on a fishing trip. With his car. What did he charge us each for gas? $17!!!! Between three people thats $51. There is NO WAY we spent $51 of gas. I go a few days later with a friend of mine? Total gas? $24. $12 each between the two of us. This idiot not only didn't put in his fair share? We paid for his shopping!
Now we had another argument on the other board. We were talking about personal responsibility. I stated that a major problem is that people live beyond thier means(and most agreed). If they only stopped buying things they didn't need and saved, most would be ok(not in todays age since the cost of living is ridiculous).
Now here is the catch. If people did this? Capitalism would be a total failure, as capitalism depends on people to consume. Spend, Spend, Spend. People are being marketted aggressively. Especially dumb people. Do you ever see these infomercials?lol When they say "oh and we are not payed actors" as they read from a cue card?lol You have to be really stupid to beleive them!
Ads will lie to you in order to get you to buy!
Credit allows people to live beyond their means. The banks dont care because the money is made of thin air. The companies dont care because its money in their pocket. But someone has to pay the losses(which are in reality no losses at all), and that is the tax payer/consumer.
This guy even stated. I like to market people, fool them into buying the most expensive thing with the highest markup. I dont want him to buy cheap. But he later explains you have to market people but not be marketted your self.
Here is an example of Marketting.
Canada's Supreme court stripped Pfizer of it's viagara patent. And started selling a generic version for much cheaper. Pfizer claimned it wasn't as effective as their brand. Though studies show that they are exactly the same and this is just a marketting technique by Pfizer to get people to buy their brand. Now Pfizer was forced to lower costs of their brand in Canada.
Here is another example. why does a T-shirt's cost increase by $45 dolalrs because of a $1 Logo? Marketting. These brands are a type of Status in our society, that the wealthy live by. Many youths especially are drawn by these over priced(understatement), aggressively marketted items to be cool and "fit in" usually with the cool crowd that is mostly rich kids......
Here is an example.

After giving it some thought, it reinforced by belief that the world is all vanity. Why do we buy over priced things and things we dont need? Competition with our neighbours......
Just the other day I went to by a picture frame. $20 I said to myself? Heck that is 2 hours of work for the average person! You can make it your self with alot less time and money. It might not be as fancy(vain) but it will do the job. Then you figure, with the machinery, it probably takes them 20 seconds to make a frame and the wood is dirt cheap. Then why is it $20? Someone is making a ridiculous amount of profit.
I can go on and on with examples but lets start with this.
