Capitalism Increases The Cost Of Housing Faster Than The Wages Rise.

Bit like being jealous of a fart. Funny world you weirdoes live in!

Taking a rational approach to an irrational world would require effort and would ultimately prove futile. The only alternative would be a Pyrrhic victory so why bother. Winning just for the sake of saying you won is so 20th Century.....or 21st Century democratic party but I digress.

The point is not the winning but the survival of the human race, and, since I have descendants, I feel I have to choose that, though when I read some of the posts on here I am inevitably a bit torn!

The human race shall be fine. You are just a geezer pining for the good old days just as your grandparents did before you and your grandchildren will do after you.

Good od days my authentic arse! Grow up! There won't be anyone after the grandchildren, as you know, if we keep your incredible footle.

I am the only one here who argues for sustainable living and fully embrace that will have huge economic consequences. You are the one who is upset that Brexit may raise the price of your wine at Sainsbury's. The only incredible footle is happening on the other side of the swimming pool from me.

Hello 10DayUserName,

Real estate is an asset. Labor is a consumable input with no residual value.

Thanks for letting us know that you think places are more important than people. Does this view epitomize conservative philosophy? Are workers nothing more than an inconvenient cost to be discarded after nice places are developed? That is how our President thinks. I think our society works better when we value the citizens as the most important part of a nation.

Hello 10DayUserName,

They can enter the oldest profession for all I care. It is their problem, not mine, to sort. They certainly never seem to be out of money for alcohol, cigarettes, tattoos and such.

You would begrudge them their freedom?

Should they be denied any pleasures at all?

More with your unfounded assumptions. Recognizing that past performed labor has no future market value is not a preference. It is simply reality.

All the most desirable land (often waterfront) has been highly developed through the efforts of those who can never afford to enjoy it, for the benefit of those who never had to physically work for it. The surrounding land then escalates in value to further squeeze the working man out. But the elites need to be serviced, so this forces the service workers to commute longer and longer distances. This causes a huge amount of emissions and climate change. The climate change is in the process of causing sea level rise which will render waterfront property submerged.

This doesn't seem like a very smart long range plan.

People who buy ocean front property are buying the tangible building not the intangible labor. "desirable" is fleeting. There was a time when the oceans were where poor people went.

Washington National Airport, Laguardia Airport are both waterfront. We have a lot to lose to sea level rise.

It is Reagan National Airport. There has been a push to close it for years because it is landlocked in a high density area too close to sensitive facilities. New York also has Newark and JFK to service it so the loss of Laguardia is not that big a deal. IIRC, Joe Biden compared being in that airport to visiting the third world it is such a dump.

And yet still both of those airports are extremely popular.

The day you were born. all the best land and waterfront land was owned by someone else.
