Can't we at least arm teachers with cans of BEAR SPRAY??

Yes - bear spray is not perfect. The range is only 30 feet or so but guns have disadvantages too. Anyone can easily shoot a can of bear spray since they are silent and have no recoil and there is no need for great accuracy anyway. They are cheap - $40. And no threat of killing an innocent person.

Will some shooters then wear gas masks? Perhaps, but bear spray in the eyes is horrible and so the mask will have to cover their eyes too and the spray on the lenses will make it hard to see.

Mind you i'm talking about those big 8 inch cannisters of bear spray, not those dinky cans of mace that only go 5 feet.
 
I think most us gov. administrators of indoctrination are hopeless fags and would cry if you told them they are responsible for the security of their facility.
 
We've got an armed presence at shopping malls, concerts, airports, etc. We need that same presence for the most vulnerable...the kids at all schools.

When my youngest was in college and had night classes, there had been some incidences on her campus where women were assaulted. She had one of those little sprays you can get at an auto parts store. I got her a can of bear spray in a holster. Thankfully she never had to use it. We gave it to a friend who rides her bicycle on St. Louis's south side. I don't know if it would do much good against someone with an AR but it's better than nothing.

Exactly! That's never made much sense to me. Schools are just about the only place we don't have an armed security presence, and they hold our most precious cargo. Not to mention the politicians that keep it that way have armed bodyguards trailing them at all times..

Could it be it isn't the gun and it is crazy people looking for soft targets?

For example, imagine if you will a bad guy thinking of a bank to rob

Bank 1: Has two security guards both armed. Security cameras and other security features

Bank 2: No security guards. No security cameras. Minimal security features

Which bank do you think will be the one a bad guy will go after?

End Gun Free Zones and this problem goes away.

Just because someone uses something irresponsibly is no reason to take rights from others.

We can have a hired person have a presence, but arming teachers is just stupid. Also the government would have to fund it, because choppy school budgets will never include this.
