Shouldn't context be considered before declaring someone being racist?

Can our society admit that a word is racist, depending upon context, without declaring a person to be racist for using a banned "racist" word?

Given those two ideas, I disagree that the words are racist without first considering how they are used.

I don't even like the word "racist." It is too vague. I understand "prejudice" and "discrimination." A person can be prejudiced but not discriminate.

Racism can be described many ways today. In a popular university reader it defines it as "prejudice plus power." So, only whites can be racist and only men can be sexist because they hold the power according to that definition. Although most people would not agree with that definiition those who talk about race all the time have adopted it.

Agreed. And they can discriminate and not be prejudiced. That's just being a manager. It's not like Kindergarten where everyone gets an "A". The real world discriminates. "It's not personal, it's strictly business."

The LW definition is, as you described it, is racist. Saying "only whites can" is equally racist as saying "only blacks can". They are literally being racist in their descriptions of racism. Worse, they employ the same definition in a vain attempt to make a right out of two wrongs.

It's called a wet nurse, and women of every race have done it and babies of every race have received the milk. Wet nurses were generally held in low regard, so calling someone any form of it can certainly be insulting.

Calling a "black" person black, is racist. Legitimizing the psudoscientific field of study known as zoology, legitimizes the race delusion. Zoology is the pseudoscientific version of genetics. There's nothing on this earth as "white" an an irishman. If they were any more "white" you'd have to look at their food move through their guts as they ate. You need to inderstand that just because there is a recognized word does not then prove it is a real word with a real meaning. Anyone can make up a word and offer a definition for it. Neither actuon does anything to prove legitimacy.

Saying someone is typical of something they're not typical for, is racist. No black person is nearly black, not even a shade of grey so your moving target bullshit doesnt stick either. Oh wait, sometimes they're grey, like if youre in vagas on someone elses dollar who is trying to get you killed and you instead od the hooker who they tried to get you to kill you, they turn grey until you give them mouth to mouth resuscitation. Really strange to see someone as grey as the paint used to make their nude portrait in highschool.

OMG, One night I went to my Cuban friend's house to pick him up to go to the bar.

None on the floor, she stuck them all.

Good 30 feet from that kitchen counter to the wall where the knives were stuck.
Probably every knife she got ahold of. :laugh:

I'm fine with the term "wet nurse". Whatever the connotation, I don't have a dog in this fight. I've just attempted to answer questions that were posed to the board. The conversation wandered a bit, but the thread is about whether the word mammy is racist. Evince calls EVERYTHING racist.
