People can lean by watching themselves. It should be a learning experience, not torture. There’s the security angle too. Some asshole has the classroom hostage and the camera would see it and record it even if he later shoots it out.
There’s also the psychological aspect as seen with police, which is why I support 24/7 body cams on police on patrol and cameras in their stations.

Airlines have voice recorders with each position mic’d and a general area mike. There’s a switch, but we leave it on all the time after powering up. There are strict rules on usage by both regulation and pilot union agreements.
Keep it “inside the family” at a school and it makes sense there too. The only time a recording would be released is during a criminal proceeding. Otherwise it’s a training and security system protected by law.
You’re a computer guy; you know if there’s 30 classrooms there won’t be 30 assholes in the ceiling watching. It’ll be automatic and digitally retrievable if necessary such as a complaint. If a teacher is having problems or as part of an annual review process, their recordings would be randomly selected and reviewed.

One of the saddest things I have ever heard of was when a foreigner came over to North Korea to set up the computer system. They all asked him about the Internet, HTML, Java, Javascript, URL and such.

I agree that the option to view the footage is a sensitive one but I think it would be a valuable tool to help teachers prove class disruptions as well as respond to parents that claim teachers are teaching CRT by proving otherwise.
How the camera footage is distributed is above my pay grade but I will say I am strongly opposed to having it only viewed by the local school boards and teachers' unions.
