Huh? I didn't even answer yet. I think Newton's comment was stupid but nowhere near as stupid as the dreck that falls from trump's lips every single day. That's what I was thanking.

You said the bolded part. The Jacksonville players quote saying this was nothing was bolded. What am I missing?
 
And being a socialist BAC maybe you don't think about business. But the people who run the NFL certainly do and they know they have declining ratings and have been trying for years to get more women fans. So to have one of their biggest stars make what many feel was a sexist comment was a code red to the league.

I know this is somehow some right wing racist conspiracy to you but it's really simple business

I don’t think National Anthem Protests or Cam saying something insensitive is the driving factor in the NFL’s decline. The NFL has shown stagnant growth since around 2008 and has been declining in viewership since 2013. I think the real declining factor are primarily cable cutting due to rising cost and an abundance of options for younger tech savvy viewers and an increasing mortality rate of an older generation used to viewing football on networks and cable.

Not only has rising cost been an issue but an inferior quality product and over exposure has impacted viewership too. The monetary incentives to jam as many commercials into a game not only interferes with the continuaty of the game but can make them last interminably.

Not to mention a game more regulated by officiating than Banks are. A plethora of non competitive games. An over emphasis on offensive play and passing and long winded opinionated sports caster who talk to much.

Then when you consider an increasing number of entertainment options available well the NFL has probably hit its zenith a few years back and will continue to decline unless the get back to providing a better product at a lower cost.

Far too many people are tired of too many commercials and ever climbing cable bills and non competitive play.

Sure controversies like protests and the abuse of women don’t help but they are not driving the decline.
 
My solution would be to shorten the game. Eliminate stopping the clock for incomplete passes and running out of bounds. Reduce time between plays to 25 seconds instead of 40. This would create a more up tempo and exciting game. Also reduce TV timeouts for commercial breaks by 25%. The goal would be to reduce average game time by 30 minutes from 3:15 to 2:45. More time is actually spent watching instant replay and players and refs loitering on the field than the actual play on the field. A concerted effort to simplify officiating so it does not adversely affect the game. I’d get rid of replay officiating immediately. It’s only caused more problems than it solves.

When I go into the office each morning we usually start the day b.s.ing with each other about things that happened the day/night before in sports. Maybe it's sexist but it's sort of a guy thing. Many guys like sports, myself included. I like to talk about them. Against, maybe that makes me sexist I don't know.

But you get so bent out of shape over a simple thread because one of the NFL's players made a funny comment and a bunch of women and some men got all offended by it.

And I have no idea why you and TDAK go off about Trump and Obama. Maybe it's a 9/11 conspiracy thing that you guys share. I don't know

I answered it. But you think the NFL sits there and thinks "all other leagues are down so who cares if our ratings are down as well"
