California Ecomandate kills hundreds of jobs and businesses...so far

Uscitizen, do you really have this pessimistic of a view of our future? I am not saying you're wrong but I have never met anyone with that pessimistic of a view.......unless they were a far right religious person.

always been doom and gloom like that. The U.S. is not going to be a second or third world country. That's such a ridiculous statement. Our country obviously faces many challenges but as in the past we are prepared to meet them.

Neglible? do you have any numbers on the amount of fuel vapors released while refueling?

Yes sir, it was in the link.
"April's regulations promise to cut what are known as reactive organic gas emissions by 7 tons per day statewide, but opponents point to the fact that California produces 2,322 tons of such gases per day. "

7 of 2,322 would mean a reduction of 0.3%, which is neglible and that's even going with the assumption that these upgrades really do take out ALL the vapors.

And the majority of these vapor releases are concentrated in probably about 15% of CA's area.

It is not our destiny.

There is no fate.

We will be reversing course shortly.

there is no fate, but the closer one gets to a destination the fewer opportunities there are for divergence.

Change must be earlier in the path to be more effective and long lasting.

Imagine if we had not allowed the sub prime mortgages....
But that would have been regulation...

Imagine if we had not become dependent on foreign oil?

Imagine if we had not become dependent on Chinese imports to the extent that we make so much less here now. So much of our econmy is now linked to china.

No it is not fate nor too late, but we will not choose to pay the price needed.

Why would they need to shut down? It's absurd. It's not as if they're being put at a disadvantage to their competitor. Their just striking. The governor should call in the military to run their gas stations until the come back to their senses and realize they can't strike against the good of humanity.
Sorry, military is not allowed to take over private property, if you think this is a great policy move to Zimbabwe where Mugabe's army does it all the time.
This is why you are just some emotional fat kid who has a hard on for leftist philosophy because you are looking to do some action in the world without thinking of consequences.

And yeah, a single gas station doesn't "contribute much to the problem in the first place" but thousands of gas stations that don't contribute to the problem do. I would rather them shut down any day than see us screwed with the fact of global warming.
Nope not even thousands do much, 7 of 2322 tons is neglible.

But time continues on, and If we don;t like where we are, we can turn around.

Nope. Change could come at any time. We always have choices.

Yes. we will.

I am reminded of the cartoon of the mouse giving the eagle the finger as the eagle swoops down to eat the mouse with talons bared.

Of course the thrid world rant by the uneducated USGED is redicoulus.

What we need to do, and will as usual by Cali's example is.
1. continue Bush's tax credit's for hybrids, P.S. Clinton played a big part in funding the development.
2. Promote, and incent solar and wind big time
Millions of new green jobs and USTOOTHLESS is proved wrong yet again.
This situation is but a pimple on the ass of the problems we have concored in the past.

What are green jobs? Manufacturing jobs? Regulation jobs? What exactly?

I'm the most positive on the board you loser. Go get outsourced again.
Oh yeah your ok, Office depot doesn't outsource store clerks.

Tax carbon and let it all sort itself out, then you don't have the problem of regulating one of many problem businesses.
