But same sex marriage would destroy the institution

And btw, you already explained how homosexual or religious profiling can and does take place. The cops or some bigot sit outside a gay bar or church and harass people that come out. The fact that they can not just pull over people that look gay or Catholic does not change the fact that they can target them unfairly.

And outside an establishment that is noted and/or advertises "GAY" or "Catholic", how would you know people to be of those affiliations on sight, genius?

Again, black people can't "hide", they are discriminated by their racial features...which leads to a level of discrimination that gay folk have not experienced...unless they are black also.

To quote the late, great Richard Pryor, "...when we were in the back of the bus, ya'll were up in the front having fun!"

Repeating yourself until doomsday won't make you right, String. History is history, facts are facts, and taking away one talking point of the gay rights advocacy won't kill it. So stop acting like a blithering idiot and just deal with reality.

If society is steadfastly against such change, yes. But, the courts can and have pushed the envelope. That is their function. If a majority supports a change there is no need to involve the courts. You just pass it through the legislature.

the majority has not approved it.....the courts have pushed the envelope.....in some instances the majority has over ridden the courts.....but you still keep pushing......that is NOT your function.....that is where harming society comes in.....

/shrugs.....you can post about it all you want, but I am right and nothing is going to change that......

What isn't apparently going to change, is your delusion that you're right; when in truth, you were wrong, you are wrong, and you'll continue to be wrong, as long as you want to deny civil rights to others. :good4u:

:palm: All you've done is just repeat yourself...but you've FAILED to disprove just ONE item I've previously mentioned.

Bottom line: YOU HAVE TO TELL SOMEONE YOU'RE A CATHOLIC, YOU FUCKING MORON! YOU SURE AS HELL DON'T HAVE TO TELL SOMEONE YOU'RE BLACK 99 44/100% OF THE TIME, DO YOU?

That difference is no small matter...as history will tell you. You can regurgitate your stubborn moot point until doomsday, but you can't logically or factually disprove what I stated. TFB for the gay advocate that can't blather a false talking point free of challenge....life will go on, and the gay rights movement will survive.

You're done, bunky. You may have the last predictable word.

It is still the same ones and of course that is predictable since you fail to answer.

:gives:

The courts have never held that discrimination is okay so long as one can hide from it. Your distinction is of no importance to the questions of what is permissible under the 14th and what is not.

Yes, it is the courts function. Again, if the majority approves of a change there is no need to involve the courts. But the majority cannot simply violate the rights of the individual. The courts wait until they are safe from the super majority needed to overrule them (a majority can not do it). The courts have pushed the envelope numerous times to our great benefit on civil rights in opposition to the will of majority. Loving v Virginia is an example.

I don't see the relevance since we have established that profiling can occur with just this, but okay... They could look for people with smudges on their foreheads around Ash Wednesday. They could look for people with gay pride stickers on their car.

Again, black people can't "hide", they are discriminated by their racial features...which leads to a level of discrimination that gay folk have not experienced...unless they are black also.

So the only conclusion I can form on why you believe this is relevant is to say homosexuals can go back in the closet or they have not suffered enough. Neither of those is the least bit compelling. You will say I am putting words in your mouth, but what else do you expect me to gather from your point?

You have not taken away any talking points. No one has argued gays are a race or that they have suffered to the degree that blacks did. It just does not matter to the question at hand.

In fact, I believe, blacks continue to suffer more in state discrimination than homosexuals and maybe more from discrimination of other citizens, except in marriage. That does not make the discrimination against gays on marriage okay either.

Lots of queers in Boston. How many avoided military service in the Navy?

None at all. The fine men & women who served in the Navy were willing to put their lives on the line.

Shall we get back to the topic? How will gay marriage harm society?

You can try and pretend that I am the one avoiding the topic. But I have asked you to explain or defend your ridiculous statement at least 3 or 4 times. You have refused to do so.

The you start insulting people who served in the military, while you were too cowardly to do so.

And now you insist on continuing this nonsense instead of discussing the topic of the thread.

So SM, how will gay marriage harm society?
