Jeb Bush said he thinks a fellow Republican should challenge President Donald Trump in 2020, according to a portion of an interview for the series “The Axe Files.”

The excerpt was tweeted by show host David Axelrod, a commentator and ex-adviser to former President Barack Obama. Axelrod’s interview with Bush, who went up against Trump in the 2016 Republican primary, is set to air on CNN at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

“I think someone should run just because Republicans ought to be given a choice,” Bush said. “It’s hard to beat a sitting president, but to have a conversation about what it is to be a conservative, I think it’s important.”

Axelrod wrote in a subsequent tweet that Bush, a former Florida governor, had been “incredibly candid on all fronts,” including on the state of the country and the Republican Party.

In the same interview, according to CNN, Bush also discussed a speech he gave at the inauguration of Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan, who has yet to rule out a 2020 bid. Of Hogan’s own inaugural speech, Bush said he "kind of got a sense that maybe this was an opening" for Hogan to consider a presidential campaign.

Who wants to bet that Bush won't step up to do so himself?

Always nice to know Cypress is our go to in terms of who defines conservatism. Congrats on appointing yourself our arbitrator.

He is simply a pompous asshole who tries so desperately to get the approval of the women on the left that he stalks. He wants to show them how 'enlightened' he is. Unfortunately for the leg humper, they know he is a misogynistic asshole stalker.

Trump has verbally slaughtered the Repubs. What candidate has not already been insulted in Trump's miserable little speeches? He ridiculed them and Trumplestilskins all believe what the liar in chief says. There are no Republican candidates. Just the king of the Trump party.

curious... what Dem candidates haven't been verbally slaughtered by Trump as well?

Show me I'm wrong. Can you name even a single person that you would find acceptable to carry the Trump mantle and has a modicum of a chance to be elected?

I will say this... I never thought Trump had a chance to get the Rep nomination. Yet he did. Then he went on to beat the equally unethical Hillary. Had you asked the above question in 2015, 'Does Trump have a chance?'... I would have said was about a .00000005% chance he could win the Rep nomination. Less that he would win the Presidency.

I don't remember Romney doing that but again, we're the racists, and the anti-muslims and the anti-semitists. So it's what we do. You and your fellow Democrats aren't that so why meet with and celebrate those types?

she is talking Rumsfeld, not Romney

I didn’t think he had a chance either which is why I laugh at the folks saying he has no chance at re-election.

This is some funny bullshit; Liberals cheering on a Bush. You can't make up the palpable desperation that stenches up the Party of the Jackass these days.

PRICELESS!!!

In the 2016 cycle, 16 others did including Jeb. Since he dropped out in February, 2016 that means he got his political ass kicked worse in that process than Hillary did in the general election. Maybe Jeb should try again. He's dumb enough to think he can win.

43% of Republicans want Trump primaries. It’s a larger number than I thought. Do you think those 43% will vote for him in the general?

Is that what I said? You have a problem reading don't you?
I think it’s you that has the problem. The 43% are the number who want Trump primaried, you said I’d have to ask the other 42.999%. You included yourself in that number, I simply asked for clarification.

You assumed you knew anything about what I wanted. Since I can't speak for anyone but myself, why wouldn't you need to ask the other 42.999999%?
