Well, that was a load of liberal windbaggery. The notion that it was only WMDs that we went to war over is the biggest lie itself, and the piece's entire premise.

The 1991 Gulf Conflict ended with a cease fire of hostilities, not a surrender by Saddam. What he agreed to in the cease fire was unfettered weapons inspections by the United Nations. He eventually balked at that deal, after which at any point hostilities may have legally resumed.

Imagine if in Tokyo in 1947 the Japanese had said to American occupiers, "OK, you guys have been here long enough. Get the hell out so we can start rebuilding our military." How would Harry Truman have reacted to that?

Furthermore, if the WMDs issue was a lie itself, it was a lie conspired in by the intelligence agencies of; the United Kingdom, Russia, France, Germany, and Italy. And all leading Democrats who viewed the same evidence and arrived at the same conclusions. John Kerry himself said the weapons inspections process itself, while it was underway, had been recovering contraband.

And Al Qaeda was training in Iraq. Saddam was sponsoring suicide bombers in Israel with $25,000 rewards to their survivors. None of which is happening in Syria, except that for some odd reason we're trying to enter the fray on the side of Al Qaeda to act as their air force.

Watching the likes of former Secretary of Defense, Rumsfeld, Bremer, the director of the Office for Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance in post-invasion Iraq, Kristol, founder and editor of the The Weekly Standard and a regular commentator on the Fox News Channel -- men who have absolutely no credibility -- and others of the George W. Bush era commenting during this national debate on how to deal with Syria makes one remember the misinformation and disinformation that was handed out on a daily basis, and the blood of thousands of U.S. troops and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis that was spilled over a massive lie.

Lies, misinformation, and disinformation?

The Mohamed YouTube video? The polygraph testing of CIA agents? Spying on journalists?

We're in a whole new realm of lying, misinformation, and disinformation. There's really no comparison here, no explanations, and no opposition or revelations coming forth from the mainstream news media.
