Bush Admin. Cleared-Again

This is the thinking of the legal minds in the Bush DoJ:

Nice.

Obama has increased the use of unmanned drones in the mountains of a country we are not at war with dropping bombs on ...GASP...villages full of people!!!

I guess it IS in the power of the CIC...DOH!

So your position is that Obama has intentionally ordered the extermination of villages of civilians.

You're fucked. Seriously.

I am saying that he has ordered an increase of drone attacks that are known to have a high civillian casualty rate...wtf do you call that???

I say he is fighting the enemy in a way that keeps American military lives safer...it's you "libtards" who cried foul when Bush used them at a much reduced rate.

frickin' hypocrites!

I call that increasing drone attacks, not intentionally targeting civilians so as to exterminate a village. Here's a question: do you think the President has the inherent authority to order the intentional extermination of a village of civilians?

I'm not quite sure I follow you here. The debate here is about the freakshows that served on the DoJ OLC under Bush. You seem to think they are all very nice people that are just a bit misunderstood.

So was it before or after she chided you for not responding that you "found" inspiration?

What I know is that your hair splitting hypocrisy is as obvious as a pile of dog shit on white carpet and just as stinky!

The FACT that you attack Bush's policy of allowing for the water-boarding of a few men who were responsible for 9/11 and yet dismiss the increased drone attacks that result in a large number of civillian casualties, within a country we are not at war with, shows you for a flaming hypocrite!

That the CIC (repub or dem) has the power to order an attack on a village that will wipe out civillians is not something Bush EVER did. Obama's increase in drone attacks that are known to kill civillians IS at the heart of the matter under discussion.

It ain't. We've trained our own troops using the technique.

it is. all that means is we've trained government agents to torture.

I repeat, your bullshit government lawyer legalese does not make torture legal. It is the height of intellectual dishonesty to claim otherwise. It is people like you, who have encouraged and supported the shredding of the constitution that are the cause of our current smorgasbord of constitutional crises.

There's no reason to get belligerent simply because you're wrong. Again, our own troops have been trained by water boarding them. Are you saying that we've tortured our own troops?

Yes, that is exactly what he is saying. The troops that undergo waterboarding are not standard infantry troops. They are special forces who need to be able to withstand torture. That is the point of the training.

Every one of our military members who have been thru the training calls waterboarding torture.

I'm not belligerent. you've seen me belligerent, this is not belligerent. and I'm not wrong about this, you know this. Had these same legal doctrines been written and endorsed under the clinton administration, you'd be screaming about how clinton likes to torture people.

I was never waterboarded during boot camp nor during any of my initial training. I would never agree to such a dangerous and useless inhumane act. Therefore, yes, we've tortured our own troops.

"Earlier, I wrote about the practice of waterboarding after reading a piece in the New York Daily News by Malcolm Nance. Nance, who served as an instructor at the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape School (SERE), wrote that he considered the practice to be torture, without question, and therefore illegal."

"...bullshit government lawyer legalese does not make torture legal. It is the height of intellectual dishonesty..." Sounds like belligerence to me. I wouldn't be screaming if Clinton water boarded terrorists, just that he got the information that we needed to bag more of them.

Water boarding isn't part of basic training, but for special ops and the like. You obviously didn't do that. Just because you weren't trained that way doesn't equate to torture.

*shrug*

You are taking the word of lawyers and CIA weasels that it is torture, and ignoring the people who have been thru it who call it torture.

When a SEAL calls it torture, you can bet the farm that it is torture.

If you want to argue whether or not we should torture detainees, you can make a point. But claiming its not torture is nonsense.

would waterboarding bad check writers be considered torture?

lol

Waterboarding has always been considered torture, until George W's administration got caught doing it. Then it magically became something like a Disney Theme Park ride.
