[h=1]Former US President Clinton Praises Burma Transition[/h]

RANGOON — Speaking in Rangoon on Thursday, former US President Bill Clinton talked up Burma’s political reforms, calling the country’s transition from military rule to a nominally civilian government “remarkable.”
“The whole world has been pulling for Myanmar since you opened up,” Clinton added.

It wasn’t all backslapping, however, as the former American president, whose two terms in office ended in 2001, warned that Burma needs to involve ethnic minorities more closely in government, saying “it is important to have inclusive and transparent politics.”

[h=1]Burma's Thein Sein in landmark White House visit[/h]
[h=2]Burmese President Thein Sein became the first leader from the country to visit the White House in nearly half a century on Monday, but the historic meeting with US President Barack Obama has angered critics of Burma’s human rights record.[/h] Burmese President Thein Sein met with US President Barack Obama in a landmark trip to the White House on Monday, becoming the first leader from his country to visit Washington in nearly 50 years.

In a scene that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago, former general Thein Sein was welcomed to the White House by Obama, who referred to Burma as Myanmar in a symbolic gesture. The latter name was introduced in the country while it was under military rule, and has gradually come into greater use by US officials as ties between the two countries have improved.

Obama congratulated Thein Sein’s reform efforts in Burma, promising that Washington would offer further political and economic support in the future.

And the net result was...(aside from assuaging your liberal guilt, that is)?

OT Burma... I didn't look for the post but you asked me to prove that I get email criticizing Obama so here you are.

...tell President Obama to stop apologizing for the despicable conduct of private health insurance companies—and to hold them accountable. Click here to sign our petition.

With Obamacare going into effect, insurance companies are using confusion created by the new law to mislead the public. They are sending out false cancellation letters, threatening customers with rate hikes and hoodwinking Americans into buying much more expensive plans.

None of this should come as a surprise—private insurance companies are greedy. It’s the reason why we needed Obamacare, and we knew that they would sabotage the new law.

But President Obama has reacted by apologizing to the American people, saying on national television that he is “sorry” to have promised that everyone will keep their old plans.

He must not apologize for the despicable conduct of insurance companies. Sign our petition urging President Obama to set the record straight and hold them accountable.

Keep fighting,

You told him to keep lying and stop apologizing.

Now it's the cons' turn to do the same to insurance companies.

If that's true, the insurance commissioners in the states will deal with it.

Now it's the cons' turn to petition insurance commissioners to investigate claims of misleading the public.

I don't feel it's my responsibility to tell state insurance commissioners how to do their jobs, especially when I don't reside in their jurisdiction.

If there's any evidence of wrongdoing, feel free to email it to the proper authorities.
