Build Back Better

Bullshit. From about 1970 to 1980 inflation was bad. After 1980, it declined to around 1 to 2% and has stayed there until Biden took office. Now it's shot back up to 6% +.

No, most inflation was due to changes in taxation and increases in government spending.

No, most of it was due to massive increases in government regulation under Nixon, then Carter. EPA, OSHA, Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Education, etc. These added massively to the cost of doing business in the US along with increases in taxation and government spending to operate them.

Real wages adjusted for cost of living went down since the 1970s.

Even though productivity skyrocketed.

The Capitalist extractors made the real gains, CEO salaries & stock values went way up.

Capitalism only works well if people are moral, fair, and honest.

Unfortunately, once Boomers took over the economy around 1980 they ruthlessly gutted the system by placing greed over nation.

So? None of that has to do with the rate of inflation. Part of the reason can be put on illegal immigration. For example illegal immigration has kept farm and construction wages below what they would have risen to otherwise. Those are two areas of the economy where lots of illegals are employed.

It's pretty hard to say Corporations were disproportionately impacted by high costs from 1970 to present.

Considering Reagan years especially lowered corporate tax rates drastically.

ironically outsourcing & importation of migrants only significantly increased at the time of those corporate tax breaks.

The EPA and OSHA had a huge impact on manufacturing in the US when they were established. I'm not saying they weren't needed, only the outcome of what their regulations did.

In technical terms inflation to the dollar didn't always flop since 1970.
But, in terms of costs to wage then yes the prices have inflated a lot more than wages most of the time since year 1970 or so.

Reagan cut official overall corporate tax rates from 46% to 34%.

So, the EPA & other regulations increased costs more than Reagan's tax breaks!?

The EPA and OSHA started with Nixon. You are moving almost a decade ahead. In that time many traditional US major industries all but collapsed due to a number of issues, but those two agencies were in the mix big time. When unregulated, steel was a major polluter and a real safety issue for workers. The cost of meeting regulations hastened the closing of many steel plants in the US as one example.

But, outsourcing manufacturing & insourcing migrants happened mostly in the 80s & onward.

President Biden Signs Infrastructure Bill

President Biden celebrated the massive bipartisan infrastructure bill, saying it "is proof" both parties "can deliver real results for real people."

"My fellow Americans, today I want you to know we hear you, and we see you," Biden said at a White House signing ceremony. "The bill I'm about to sign into law is proof that despite the cynics, Democrats and Republicans can come together and deliver results. We can do this. We can deliver real results for real people."

"And we're taking a monumental step forward to build back better as a nation," he said.

Biden thanked Vice President Kamala Harris, his Cabinet members and Congress for helping pass the bill."

And you know once it gets going Repubs will take credit for it. They did that with Obamas construction projects telling people how proud they were of what was getting done and they should thank him for it. However, he fought the bill as hard as he could and voted against it.

Hello Nordberg,

And you know once it gets going Repubs will take credit for it. They did that with Obamas construction projects telling people how proud they were of what was getting done and they should thank him for it. However, he fought the bill as hard as he could and voted against it.

Republicans who do that are totally and completely shameless.

It is so predictable you know it's coming.

I would be pretty surprised if Lindsey Graham didn't do exactly that.
