Build Back Better

That brine is a horrible misuse of a steak.

Course salt and cracked pepper. Throw them in the middle of a screaming hot grill to put the bark on them,.....

Fixed it for ya!
Not skirt steak (our favorited-outside, btw...)...or hanger..or flank...;)

I dont do pork though. Not for me. Other than a little breakfast sausage and bacon I dont eat it at all. Beef, fish, and chicken....

Yep. Think I'm gonna make a nice Beef Potroast today! :)
Sear it first...lol
If you can ever get a cross rib roast give that a try for the best pot roast ever...not that there's a bad pot roast....
It's pulled pork this weekend for us....ETA...I just read you're no pork, so I guess you don't need tips...lol

Democrats set Friday vote on infrastructure bill, further delay massive spending bill

"As many as seven moderate Democrats were holdouts on the social safety net bill focused on President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, two sources told NBC News.

Before they vote for the bill, those lawmakers want the Congressional Budget Office to provide an estimate about how much the legislation is going to cost, which Democratic leaders have made clear would not be ready by Friday.

A senior Democratic aide said that it could take weeks to calculate. Two estimates released Thursday weren’t enough to assuage the moderates’ doubts about adding to the nation’s deficit. A new White House estimate that said the bill was "fully paid for” and the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation estimates that the Build Back Better bill would raise $1.47 trillion from new taxes.

The skeptical group of Democrats included Reps. Stephanie Murphy, of Florida, Ed Case, of Hawaii, Jared Golden, of Maine, Kurt Schrader, of Oregon, Abigail Spanberger, of Virginia, Kathleen Rice, of New York and Carolyn Bourdeaux, of Georgia.

The lawmakers met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Friday morning, but two sources suggested they were “very dug in.”

On Thursday, Biden called numerous House members to garner support. In public remarks, he called on the House to vote "right now."

For months, Democrats have encountered obstacles negotiating these two bills because of the intra-party divisions between moderate and progressive lawmakers. Leaders have had to postpone votes on the infrastructure package several times because of the insistence by progressives that they only vote on it in tandem with the Build Back Better bill.

Pelosi said at her weekly press conference Thursday that she was “very unhappy” that the House didn’t pass the infrastructure measure last week.

“We're going to pass both bills, but in order to do so, we have to have votes for both bills,” she said.

And it passed! No one got exactly everything that they wanted, but everyone got something -- the very definition of compromise.

Hello Sirthinksalot,

Hi Politalker,

You understand that both chambers of Congress need to pass the exact same bill, correct? If it is changed in the Senate, the House will need to pass it again.

Everyone who is knowledgeable of politics and how our government works understands that.

The Senate already passed the exact same Infrastructure Bill. It just passed the House last night with no changes. It is now on it's way to President Biden's desk.

Build Back Better faces hurdles in the Senate, yes. But Democrats are Democrats and they understand the gravity of the situation. President Biden's approval polling has taken some hits. Democrats understand they ride on the coattails of that Presidential approval polling. Democrats may have their differences, but they all understand they have to pass Build Back Better now or the party is toast in 2022.

Everyone in the Democratic Party understands time has run out to produce results. Democrats are highly motivated to act.

The pressure is on the Senate to get this done. If they have to mark it up and send it back to the House, they know that will have to be done very quickly to give the House time to act, and that the best case is if they simply pass it as is and send it to President Biden's desk.

It would help if a single Senate Republican cared more about America than the Trump Party.

Too bad that isn't the case. But Democrats have the power to do what is needed. I believe they will.

I have faith in the Democratic Party.

Where's the fucking sausage? That's my question. I'll take a bone at this point. Throw me a fucking bone!

No worries, Jack. I'm going to bone you when you are at your most vulnerable. You're going to do down for a fourth 12b ban and then a perm ban if you don't take your meds or answer my question.

The "compromises" made by the founders resulted in the clusterfuck that we have for a nation today.
Pollyanna can't read this, but if he/she/it could, who knows if he/she/it would understand it anyway?

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

And as history has shown, time and time again, "ERMAGAWD THE DEFICIT!" is a tune only sung during (D) presidencies.

The deficit hawks are a migratory species. Their migration is controlled by US elections. They only return when Republicans have lost power.

Quite true.

I wonder how many of the Teatards' funny little hats and teabags were destroyed by moths in the last four years? lol

Without compromise we have rule by force, which only the alt-Reichwingers desire -- as long as the force belongs to *them.*

If we don't make totally incompatible people live under the same government, force isn't necessary.
The founders compromised to make one nation out of very incompatible former colonies, and the problems created by that have multiplied on an exponential level ever since.

I am amused at all the tattered and faded Trump flags. Rather symbolic, I'd say. They are not quality flags, not well constructed, not built to last. They look great at first, but the luster fades. They are temporary symbols for a temporary movement which will fade, just as the foreshadowing of the fading flags predicts.

The flags fall apart under the pressure of the reality of nature and the light of day just as the arguments of the Trump Party wilt under the reality of fact.

Flying a faded tattered Trump flag is like clinging to a lost cause.

Yep, same as hoisting the stars and bars. Both signify the presence of a loser.

I disagree. The American Flag is the symbol of our great nation. It does not represent either party. All Americans should be proud to fly the American Flag when it is appropriate.

I agree that many Trump Party supporters fly the flag inappropriately.

I do certainly disagree with flying or displaying the American flag in inappropriate ways or at the wrong times.

It is wrong to have it on the back of a pickup truck, fly it at night without illumination, have it as an article of clothing, disfigure it, fly it upside down, below a State flag or any other flag, allow it to touch the ground or drape across things. On days when it is flown at half mast it should first be raised to the top and then lowered to half mast. And when it is taken down it should again be raised to the top first before taking it down.

The cheesy little plastic American Flags which are flown from a car window are disgraceful. That should not be done. The athletes who take a flag without a pole and wrap themselves up in it or drape it across their shoulders during victory celebrations are disgracing the flag. The stars should never be lowered below the stripes.

The "stars and bars" = the Confederate flag, not the U.S. flag.

It's amazing! The Democrats are so utterly fucked up they can't even agree on how to waste taxpayer money!

Worse; they think we are morons like their constituents by claiming the legislation costs ZERO and will help reduce inflation!!!

The same PHONY media that fact checked fabricated lies about Trump relentlessly are suddenly quiet and shaking their heads in collective agreement with this moron.
:palm:
