Buffett: Federal debt will hurt economy

The Oracle of Omaha is worried about the growing US deficit.

Warren Buffett is worried.


In an op-ed in The New York Times, Buffett cautioned that "enormous dosages of monetary medicine continue to be administered and, before long, we will need to deal with their side effects."

The current economy is in a paradoxical situation where lowering government spending isn't going to reduce debt, because growth will be so hampered. It's called the paradox of thrift.

But, of course, debt does have a negative effect on future growth.
