He's lying. His backpedaling and use of the "royal we" are indicators. His dozens of posts laced with racist and white supremacist rants are a matter of record.
Backpedaling or not, his denials or not, when a major WSE attack comes either this summer or the summer of '24, the backlash will see DHS taking a look at everyone who supported the WSEs, even if only via their keyboards.
From there, like Ken Starr's Whitewater investigation, they'll follow the evidence even if it means handing it over to the IRS, local/State LEOs, or any other agency with the jurisdiction to prosecute a crime/illegality.
Like DHS tracking overseas terrorists, algorithms tracking online activity will be their first line of defense. Anyone who pops up as suspicious will be given a closer ELINT look. Anyone suspicious there gets a much closer look until cleared or arrested.
