Breyer recommends term limits for Supreme Court.

All government workers need to be required to pass a cognitive exam after age 70. If Federal judges can pass a cognitive exam they should be allowed to stay as long as they want to.
 
Discussing his criticisms of textualism over pragmatism, Breyer said he understands that a textualist interpretation is “attractive” and will “stop the judges from doing what they want”.

However, Breyer said that “it doesn’t work very well, in my opinion.”

“Go back to 1788, ’89, ’87. Go back even to just after the civil war, when we have the 13th, 14th, 15th amendment … There were about half the population of this country that really weren’t represented in the political process, right? But they’re now part of the political process, as they should be,” he said.

“You want to just go back to what people were thinking at that time? I’m not sure just what they were thinking at that time … but I do suspect … the fact that half the people in this country were not involved in the political process. They were supposed to stay home. And there were some that were enslaved. And we understand that. So, that’s one of the problems with just looking back into history,” he added.

The Supremes and Federal judges get lifetime ap[appointments so they can be free of political pressures. If they had to keep running for office, they would quickly get owned by the wealthy and corporations. In theory, they can do the right thing. But Thomas showed us they are still vulnerable to money.

If you knew ahead time, the year a Justice would be forced to retire, ... then presidential elections would become proxy Scotus elections.

Term limits would, in fact, make Scotus more political.

Leftist Breyer, himself, is so political ... that he chose to retire when he did ... to maintain a "political balance" in the court. :palm:

It's some of the the young justices that are out of their fucking minds as much as Thomas.
Gorsuch was a choice stolen from Obama.
Barrett was a choice stolen from Biden.
Kavanaugh was the only legit Pigshit choice,
and he's a fucking whackjob.

Americans who vote Russiapublican are saboteurs of the nation, plain and simple.
Our present judicial system is a fucking catastrophe thanks to Pigshit appointees.

Also, it would have been a shame if the great and sainted RBG had to retire sooner.
 
I think there should be a strict ethics code for the Supreme Court justices to have to follow- LIKE EVERY OTHER GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL.

And there should be a Grand Marshall in charge of insuring the justices follow the code as written.

And when one of them violates an ethics code, where there is evidence, they should be impeached immediately by the Marshall!

We cannot have Justices accepting money, favors, gifts, or bribes in exchange for their votes on the Supreme Court!

Accepting bribes should be illegal, and they should also face jail when they do.
