Justine Greening's call for new Brexit referendum rejected by No 10

The former education secretary argued the final Brexit decision should be given back to the people and out of the hands of "deadlocked politicians".

She called for three options to be on the ballot paper: the prime minister's Chequers deal, staying in the EU or a clean break from Europe with no deal.

The UK is due to leave in March 2019.

Ms Greening, who resigned after the cabinet reshuffle in January, said the referendum should offer a first and second preference vote so that a consensus can be reached.

However, the availability and take-up of ultrafast services (offering speeds above 300Mbps, in the UK is comparatively low, largely due to a focus on the deployment of fibre-to-the-cabinet rather than fibre-to-the-premises networks.

Wasn't the UK telecommunications network once owned by the public and amongst the best in the world before unscrupulous Tories stole it from public ownership and sold it off to their donors, henchmen and greedy but gullible Brits ? That's clearly why it's so impoverished today- the profiteers have stripped it bare.

30Mbps eh ? That's like a digital postman on a bike.

I wonder if the Europeans will sever the undersea cables when you're gone .
