Once again Brittney Griner has been playing basketball in Russia since 2014... She is well paid.. By now she would have been very aware of their rules and regulations. It was her choice to ignore them and no way was it unintended... did the punishment fit the crime? It's Russia... her only hope is for them to decide that they'll accept some kind of prisoner swap but they're going to play games with Joe for all it's worth... the situation would be different if it wasn't him in "charge"...Playing The Anthem will always be a cherished tradition... especially at athletic events..if you don't like it don't go..or participate... I think the only thing Griner has to hang her hopes on, is the possibility of Putin being overthrown or possibly dying from whatever illness he's rumored to be suffering from, and a new and more moderate regime taking his place.

Such a change might include certain overtures of goodwill and fence mending towards the US, including the release of Americans in Russian prisons.

Outside of something like that, she's probably looking at a long stretch.

She and all her WNBA pals should have been called together as a group prior to their departure and been given a detailed briefing on various matters concerning what they need to be aware of regarding the laws over there, the consequences they could face and been instructed to be extra careful about what they pack in their personal belongings.
