That alternator's responsibility is simply to keep the battery charged, nothing more. It doesn't use a damn bit more or less horsepower regardless if the lights are on or off. It doesn't run anything electrical whatsoever, and it's voltage is regulated by the voltage regulator. Again, try to run an automobile on the alternator alone, without a battery.
Look it up Mr. Supermechanic.

ETA; SOME vehicles will run on the alternator alone once started, but will cause electrical surges that can literally destroy most vehicle's electrical systems.

LED lights will save a tiny amount of fuel but it is barely measurable. Probably by about the same amount as taking out the carpets.

I don't think anyone denies that fact, they are more efficient and brighter.
But the whole point is that when the engine is running, it doesn't take any
more HP to run the alternator with the lights on or off.

He said he’d go back, but it would have to be a good deal for the US. He said that same thing, when he first withdrew us from it.

I’m not sure how this is news, let alone breaking news?

Halogen bulbs use about 5 amps whereas LEDs typically use 1.5 amps. So that's around 40 watts saving per bulb or less than 100 watts total. In other words, 0.13 horsepower total is saved aka sweet fuck all!!
