A 12-year-old boy who was apparently playing with his grandfather’s gun fatally shot a 12-year-old friend Tuesday evening...
The boys, who are classmates, had left the victim’s home together about 3:45 p.m. and walked to the house where one of the boys and his grandfather live.
The gun had been left in the grandfather’s unlocked bedroom, police said.
The boy who fired the shot told police that he was playing with the gun and it discharged, hitting the friend in the head.
The victim was taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead...
