Thanks for finally realising that I was never talking about pedophiles. Haiku brought that into the equation.
One might note also that men of any stripe are not members of the girl scouts.
As to the insults, you are forgiven because you clearly don't realize that you are misunderstanding me, and I am not being condescending, I am turning the other cheek.

There is no other straight person on this site who has more empathy for homosexuals than I do. I watched most of my friends die for twenty straight years (I live near a VERY active homosexual community). Now I am bereft of the multitudes of friendships I made over many, many years. I am sure anyone on this site who knows me will vouch for my ongoing and continuous support of homosexuals.

I was in the Boy Scouts myself. I was first exposed to many things in the Boy Scouts, many illegal, many immoral.
I was also assaulted by a man when I was a late teen. I was able to escape with only some groping.
I am comfortable with the Boy Scouts decision considering my experiences. It is not about hate, at worst it is ignorance, but not hate.

My ONLY point in addressing the OP was to talk about hate. The Boy Scouts position is not based on hate.

They are denying a boy his Eagle because
Boy Scouts of America said in a statement that because of Andresen's sexual orientation and that he did not agree to Scouting’s principle of "Duty to God," “he is no longer eligible for membership in Scouting.” But the family on Friday disputed that, saying the only reason Andresen was denied the rank is "because the Boy Scouts of America has a problem with Ryan being gay."

This is religious yet the BSA had no problem for decades hiding sexual predators.

I'm sorry you had that experience in Scouts. This is about pedophiles unless there is also sexual battery going on by way of 'dominance' in Scouts as well.

There can be no doubt in my mind that the organization has some very strange values.

Its also their right as a private group. They can set their own terms for membership and advancement. It may not be fair or moral but it is their right.

Indeed it is. But I didn't see anything in the article about them kicking the kid out of scouting. They just won't let him make Eagle.

"I think right now the Scoutmaster is sending Ryan the message that he’s not a valued human being and I want Ryan to know that he is valued … and that people care about him.”
Ryan, 17, came out in July. Andresen said the Scoutmaster knew about Ryan's sexual orientation and they had no idea he wouldn't sign off on the paperwork.
It was “a total shock," she said, adding that Ryan was led all along to believe he would be able to get the award.
The Scoutmaster did not immediately respond to a phone call and email seeking comment.
But a spokesman for the Boys Scouts, Deron Smith, told NBC News in a statement that Andresen recently "notified his unit leadership and Eagle Scout Counselor that he does not agree to Scouting’s principle of 'Duty to God' and does not meet Scouting’s membership standard on sexual orientation. While the BSA did not proactively ask for this information, based on his statements and after discussion with his family he is being informed that he is no longer eligible for membership in Scouting.”

The family responded Friday to the Boy Scouts' assertion in a statement:"The Boy Scouts of America's statement that Ryan does not agree to Scouting's principle of 'Duty to God' is inaccurate. Ryan has never said that he does not believe in a higher power, and the only reason he's being denied the rank of Eagle is because the Boy Scouts of America has a problem with Ryan being gay."

Well, not really.

Scouting For All says our tax payer money should NOT be used in any way to support a discriminatory organization. Lets work to STOP government support of the Boy Scouts of America, an organization that discriminates against gay (GLBT) and atheist youth and adults.

Most people don't realize that public schools are one of the largest participants in the Boy Scouts of America supposedly "private" organization. Even though the Boy Scouts have the right to practice such discrimination (James Dale Vs BSA US Supreme Court decision, June 29, 2000), public schools do NOT -- yet the practice continues today.

Scout Units including packs and troops aren't owned by the Boy Scouts of America, they are "owned and operated", as the BSA describes it, by the "charter partner." For example, a Cub Scout Pack is really a youth group run by, say, a local church, which agrees to run the group following the BSA Cub Scout program.

The problem is, public schools also charter or sponsor, "own and operate" many of these youth groups, and public schools are agreeing to exclude all gays and atheists as members -- even though it's illegal for a public school to do so. A school can form and run a youth group, but they can't sign an agreement with a private, discriminatory group like the BSA to exclude gays and atheists from the school's youth group, any more than they could form a soccer team and sign an agreement with a restricted club to exclude Jewish students.

There are over 8,000 scout units chartered to government agencies today. NONE of these can legally exclude atheists; gays are covered in many (but not all) states by state law.

Find schools or Police departments in your area and ask them why they are unlawfully running a scout unit (pack or troop) that excludes gay and atheist children and adults; ask the local Fire department or Parks & Recreation department why they are supporting a "private, discriminatory" youth group that teaches children that being gay is immoral and that gay and atheist children and adults are morally inferior.

In analyzing official Boy Scouts of America information (circa Jan 2005) on 52,062 Cub Scout Packs and 43,908 Boy Scout Troops, at least 6,546 (or about 12.5%) of the Packs and 2,360 (about 5%) of the Troops appear to be chartered (that is, sponsored) by government agencies such as public schools, Police departments, Fire departments, park & recreation departments, and towns. That's nearly 9,000 Packs and Troops with over a quarter of a million members.

so maybe they should recruit homosexual women for the boy scouts and the girl scouts homosexual men, that way there would be fewer molestations by scout leaders

there are about as many 'deviant' homosexuals as there are heterosexuals, oh and do not forget bisexuals while you are at it

the vast majority of heterosexuals, homosexuals and bisexuals prefer adult partners

although three or more centuries ago, anyone that was post pubescent was considered an adult and could marry...mainly because the life expectancy was around 30 and if you did not marry young, you might not live to see your children reach adulthood

also, infant and maternal mortality were quite high then, which is why many men had two or three wives over the course of their lives

actually, many heterosexuals see 16-18 year old 'children' as desirable sexual partners. but due to statutory rape laws do not act on those desires

also, some young women/girls are attracted to older men who they see as powerful and experienced

i would expect it is the same for homosexuals
