Malaria was playing in over a thousand empty or sparsely attended theaters in the UK. Theater owners can't make money on that. It sure seems like someone is paying these theater owners to just keep the movie in their theaters.

A documentary that forgets to be a documentary

"Melanie" tries hard to present itself as an intimate, revealing portrait, but it ends up feeling more like an extended promotional reel than an honest exploration of its subject. The film constantly hints at deeper stories-creative struggles, personal conflicts, artistic evolution but never commits to actually showing them. Instead, it circles around glossy visuals and carefully curated moments that feel engineered rather than authentic.

The pacing is uneven, with long stretches that say very little, followed by abrupt jumps that leave important context out. Interviews are shallow, offering praise without insight, and the documentary avoids any meaningful critique or complexity. It's as if the filmmakers were afraid to let anything real slip through.

If documentaries are meant to illuminate, Melanie mostly casts shadows.

Shockingly bad​


I'm not even going to get into the politics of this existing in the first place. Let's just take it as it presents itself, as a piece of art and as a documentary.

It is filmed in a flat, almost colorless way, and the vocals are presented in a monotone. You almost can't believe someone wanted this to be watched.

In terms of the content, it's just sort of a puff piece with no attempt to present multiple viewpoints. If it was meant to be taken seriously, there's no perceptible attempt to live in the world of serious documentaries. It's just spin and sell and glamorize. I'm not suggesting it should have criticized the subject, this obviously wasn't that kind of documentary - but there could have been an attempt to present it from an objective perspective that sees the world of Melania Trump from above, so to speak.

The choice of director is disturbingly ironic, considering his history and the history of the subject's family, especially taking into account current headlines. I'm not one of those people who thinks you can separate the art from the artist, and this movie is almost the entire argument in favor of that point of view all by itself.

I really can't express how much this is not entertaining or compelling or on any level interesting. Even if you're a fan of Melania Trump, I can't imagine you could be entertained by this in literally any of the ways that a film is supposed to hold your attention.

$8 million was only a projection, and an optimistic one. As a firm believer in free market capitalism, the most insulting thing about this movie is how much money it's going to lose for it's investors!

They did the same thing when I was deep diving the economic mess in 2009-2010

I came back and there was the thread out my clit that had been going for some time

Every time I bumped anyone new person would end up seeing just how fucked the make posters here were

Imagine you come to a site and see the top thread is some guys talking about a female posters clit (my name and the word clit)

Right in the title
Not good for business huh

I took their fucking lying thread and made it a poster board to place the facts over

And showed they had entire no integrity

And that they all hated females because no chicks want their little pants worms
