I've worked in the infrastructure and building design industry since 1980. I've seen plenty of economic swings and adjusted my niche as the market demanded. In 2007 I designed 10 commercial buildings, which is a huge work load for a small firm. In 2009 after Hussein the Obama became president I didn't design a single one. 2010, two medical office buildings. 2011 two GovCo buildings. Did not get a commercial project until 2012. About half of my clients went bankrupt. A large contractor here went under after 100 years. During all this time, DC was booming. As Trump said, 'cranes everywhere'. Fedco printed money: "quantitative easing", in other words, stealing value from every private portfolio, to pay for it all.

Since then I tweaked my niche again and slowly built up my clientele in a different area, and last year was my best since 2007.

So spare me whining about folks with FedCo jobs. They have been swimming in gravy for the last eight years.

Streets here are paved by my LOCAL municipality, and state wide by my STATE DOT.

And with that regard, Hussein the Obama's attempt to bolster the economy by "shovel ready" projects, re-paving jobs were all over here during those years. Most didn't need it, but they got it anyway. There was so much re-paving being done that the cost of asphalt skyrocketed. This increased costs to private projects, another factor in slowing the recovery.

Nice work liberals.

Gotta give you credit. You know every federal employee personally and have intimate details of their job description and work ethic. You really do your homework.

Obama and his policies are the worst fucking thing that has happened to our country. Millions of people out of work and not even counted in the unemployment numbers anymore. Middle class people work in all manner of businesses, even in "niche" businesses like yours.

But really? You got what you wanted out of this. Another opportunity to Pat yourself on the back.

They're just going to wind up hiring more contractors to make up the difference. Plus he's the not the president and is just a kid scribbling with a pen.

Let's apply that mindset to those that say they can't afford their own food, rely on MediCAID for healthcare, got Obamacare subsidies, live in government housing, have kids on the free lunch program, etc. Feed yourself, clothe yourself, feed your own kids, pay for your own medical care, etc. See how that works?
