Border agents from 'whipping' incident to be disciplined despite being cleared

Something like 85% of the crops would rot in the fields without illegal migrant workers. Packing and slaughter houses, along with restaurants will have to close because of a lack of cheap labor. Even construction, landscaping and carwashes are dependent on illegal labor. Let's not kid ourselves.

Sir, you speak the truth- the whole truth- and nothing but the truth!

It is a shame that labor is so cheap, the only ones that want to do the dirty work now, are the ones coming here to try and have a better life for them and their families.

They are happy to have a chance to make 10x more than what they are paid in Mexico- even if they have to shovel SHIT!

There were tractor farms in the 50s and 60s. We still had to feed the population we still had to build homes we still had to cut the grass we still had to roof homes.
A forklift driver could afford to buy a house in 1960 America. Corporate greed skyrocketed after that. By '78, highspeed automation machines were being removed from the floor because manual labor was so much cheaper. The US started its race to the bottom.

We can't get at the truth until we're willing to talk about it.

What caused Haitian migrants? Border agents are trained to violate human rights. There are no consequences for beating or killing Black and Brown folk. Some of the best workers come here from the Caribbean. They are not to blame for their desperation.
ridiculous.
there was no human rights violation -you can't even name it specifically - so you go with "human rights"

The Inspector General cleared the agents of any criminal wrongdoing -including "whipping"
(hopefully you're not that far gone you thought that was a whip -it was a split reign.)
There wasnt even any "beating"

I've been to Haiti -a true shithole country, and this was 25 years ago - it's no doubt worse now.
There is nothing better about Carribbean workers.. I do agree they aren't to blame for migration.
That's on Biden and his open borders and telling them to come in, and using catch and release
on a massive scale. They are gaming the system with "asylum" requests".

Mayorkas is blaming the agents for doing their job. that's where the blame lies- on the Biden adm
and their scapegoating of BP

It's called an immigration Bill!

But, no, can't get Congress to throw it out on the floor for debate!

I used to work in El Paso quite a lot, and it is a fact that hundreds of thousands of Mexicans come across the border there every day, to work an American job, or see their doctor, or shop. or visit relatives, and return home to Mexico every night!

Those people like living in Mexico!

This just in- Texans are driving into Mexico for cheaper gas!

Gasoline is only around 4 bucks a gallon just over the border!

automation always replaces workers.
The scale of automation now though is very high -the last thing we need is more unskilled workers
which most of the migrant appear to be. Even burger flipping is automated to some extent,'and kiosks replace someone taking your order.
They came and need social services, and medical access, and schools and resources like food and shelter.

Border agents have an IQ no higher than 80. You can't give arrested development power over others. Look what Owl did to JPP.

Immigration is a wedge issue. Congress needs it to keep us divided. Man-made borders don't work. Even economic borders. It takes 3 or 4 hours a day for workers to commute to and from Manhattan.

Who do you figure at this point would want a job as a border resettlement agent?

Or cop or soldier or....

He was not cleared. Criminal charges are an entirely different standard of proof, and different requirements than an administrative violation. If he were caught sleeping on the job, he could not be prosecuted for that, but should expect to face administrative punishment.

you are quoting the OP. the OP is clear the IG cleared them of criminal conduct.
Border agents involved have been on desk duty since then - valuable resources denied for border security.

what is "clear"is this is pure vengeance to satisfy Biden's grotesque agenda to punish them for doing their job - there was nothing to it. twirling a split reign..
But Biden wants his pound of flesh and his lackey Mayorkas will get it for him

First off, criminal investigations do not clear people of criminal conduct. It is impossible to clear anyone of criminal conduct. They merely decide if there is enough evidence to continue with a criminal case. That is an entirely different set of rules, and standard of proof from avoiding punishment on your job.

If the border patrol agent feels he has been unfairly punished, he can appeal the case. I doubt he will.

Indeed.

Biden is harming hard working border agents who are protecting us from an invasion of illegals (non-citizens) drugs, drug dealers, gangs, MS-13, and human traffickers.

Wrong, Walter.

"IG cleared them of criminal conduct."

No evidence that they whipped anyone...no evidence, Marty.

Spin til the cows come home but these border agents are going to be punished anyway.

I hope they sue.

Good grief, you must not have any knowledge of Cesar Chavez?
You do realize he was against illegal immigration don't you?

https://humanrights.fhi.duke.edu/chavez-the-ufw-and-the-wetback-problem/

From Duke university :

Cesar Chavez was, in fact, deeply hostile toward “wetbacks,” as he (and many others of this time) called them. He was relentless in his efforts to halt immigration from Mexico and was active in pursuing the deportation of those already here. Chavez claimed that undocumented workers were driving down wages, and crucially, being used as strikebreakers. Both complaints had merit, of course. Mexican immigrants were routinely used to break strikes; their desperate situation often led them to take whatever work they could get, even if it meant clashing with the UFW’s goals. And certainly, all of these dynamics played a role in wage depression.

Thanks for playing. Try again.
