Bloomberg's income tax returns!

Before and during the Civil War, the Democrats were fighting for states' rights, while the Republicans were fighting for government overreach and Abolitionism. Which side sounds more capitalist?
Okay, so, moving from market liberalism onto political liberalism...

Dems in 1861 apparently commanded the English language as solidly as they do now in 2020. The term they were looking for (in the 10th Amendment) was state's powers, seeing as how to Constitution makes no mention of such a term as state's rights. In applying their doctrine, however, they did so in typical Dem fashion, which was predictably inconsistent/dishonest and self-serving. The fugitive slave laws violated the supposed state's rights of free states, but Dems demanded that the north enforce them, anyway. James Buchanan attempted to use the bully pulpit in an attempt to intervene in the Kansas territory's establishment of a state constitution, and to promote the minority Lecomption constitution that was supported by the Democratic Party (there was even a concerted effort to commit voter fraud by rushing Dems from outside of the territory into Kansas to vote for/support the Lecompton government).

Republicans, meanwhile, never attempted to force abolition upon the south by unconstitutional means. The goal was to spread abolition westward, and contain it to the south. They even proposed a compromise amendment guaranteeing the right to slavery in the southern states. This was all rendered moot when the south idiotically seceded, and then attacking the US, thus initiating the Civil War, and enabling Lincoln to use his war powers to deal with the issue.

That's what you said about Trump, hypocrite. Nice try, but no cigar dummy. thanks for providing a textbook example of the point though. We can always count on you for that, can't we? You may go now.
Nonsense. Contrary to trump, if Bloomberg were pressed to release his '18 tax returns he would do it without a fight. It will show his charitable donations in the billions, contrary to trump's scandalous fake charity.

You're confused about the definition of conservatism v. liberal and how that changed over the last 160 years; not the parties. The GOP has always been about the true nature of our founding documents, especially the Declaration. Specific to the Party at the time of Lincoln: "All Men are created equal".

The Democrat Party, sadly, not so much.

See that's what Trumpcucks don't understand. If Trump does something bad like, and I'm just making up an example here, trying to cheat in an election, he normalizes said bad thing. Now it's going to be normal for Democrats to cheat in elections too.
Trump obviously hasn't been paying his taxes, that's the real reason he won't release his returns. But now, because of his normalization, Democrats like Bloomberg can also not release their returns. They can simply say Trump didn't do it, why should I?

The one where free enterprise/capitalism/market liberalism is not permitted to exist. Granted, there are plenty of individuals within liberal societies that basically want this end result. Few outside of Bernie Sanders supporters ever seem to be willing to admit it, and accusing people of harboring such a position, when they have not formally embraced the label, is generally viewed as a fruitless endeavor (and likely inaccurate).

Great points. She's confused due to a lack of education and IQ.

I always use the same argument with libs when they want the Feds to usurp more of our rights: get your state to do it.

Liberals can choose to live in MA or CA and go full commie as far as I'm concerned.
