BLM Leader: Capitalism is Evil

We don't have anything close to unfettered capitalism in this country. What we have is crony capitalism. That isn't what Desh claims

"Get government out of the way!" has been the mantra of conservatives for pretty much all my life, and not a day has gone by on this message board when a Con has not been bellowing something about drowning government in a bathtub, getting government out of the way, and releasing the wondrous magic of the free markets.

To the extent conservatives even have an ideology, it pretty much revolves around getting rid of the New Deal, the Great Society, and even Teddy Roosevelt's reforms.

So here is what Desh is correct about: movement conservatives have always been arguing for unfettered capitalism. Which history has shown - with stunning clarity - to be harmful, oppressive, dehumanizing, and intolerable for the great majority of people. In other words, Evil.

Lastly, conservatives do not get to take credit for the more humane, modern social welfare state which happens to have a free market, and which came about because of reformers, progressives, liberals, and humanists. Rightwingers did not lift a finger to humanize or moderate the excesses of robber baron capitalism.

Your argument is one big straw man. Get gov't out of the way does not mean no gov't. There is definitely an important role for govt to play. But there is a big difference between gov't having a role to play and your desire for govt to have control of markets.

And no disrespect but you sound like a screaming child claiming people who support capitalism and free markets get no credit for the role capitalism has played in bringing hundreds of millions out of poverty.

Capitalism has also made a tiny few insanely wealthy while exploiting the lives and labor of the people they so often used like tools to build that wealth.

So yes, capitalism as practiced by most capitalists over the years, does have a large component of evil.

Not to mention greed.

Have you ever been to any communist or former communist countries? I have been to many and I can tell you that none of them want to go back to the old system.

Holy fuck, laissez faire capitalism hasn't been practiced for over 100 years.

Would be interesting to know how many of the people he wants to credit for capitalism bringing so many people out of poverty were supporting the U.S.S.R.'S economic model back in the day and have railed against free markets for years

I can guarantee that people like BAC and Cypress were great admirers of the Soviet Union back in the day!
