Blacks are illiterate. So prof says colleges should grade on LABOR NOT RESULTS

if you can read and write at a high school level, do math and science at that level, and follow directions and are keen to learn and compete and do better, that is all that really matters.

Too bad most of the kids who "graduate" from public schools seem unable to do any of those things.

not necessarily, but most likely here in this country. just like if you took an IQ test in france, but translated to English. there would be some communication problems inherent in the test that would lower your score compared to a native frenchmen who took the test in french.

Is that so?

You think Americans perform poorly on tests because they don't understand English and the translations provide to accommodate them are inaccurate?

Many (most?) people are not working at jobs in their degree field. But other areas, like liberal arts, are still valuable. Many corporations hire liberal arts majors because they are better at dealing with others (according to corporations).
Education also serves a person other than simply getting a job--many become interested in areas that enrich their lives.

i agree, but education can come only from books, and a curious mind, and not in advanced schooling. once you have the basic skills, you are ready. abraham lincoln did not attend any school his whole life for more than about 12 months total. and look at how wonderfully and magnificently he was able to put his thoughts to paper.

Leprosy, what is your excuse for your lower than normal IQ?????????????????

i think you fail tests because you are dumber than a box of hammers. i believe some black people are turned off by school because their home dialect and society is so different than the teachers and the white students. they may have attended primary schools where average to below average teachers were accepted, and never learned the groundwork needed to excel later. the same is true for a whole bunch of rural white kids who faced the same problems. dumbass clown. and latinos.

I notice that he was a Republican.

Too many of the children being indoctrinated in America's public school never acquire "the basic skills", and never read a single book after they leave the system.

So you have nothing but unsubstantiated supposition animated by your personal prejudices?

Lincoln spent years reading the law. I know my writing ability improved in graduate school and knowledge of my subject matter. I did read many books on my own, but only in advanced courses did I learn about my discipline and how to conduct research and other essential information.
