Black Folks, The Recession, & The Middle Class - Blog by Rippa for I.of R.& M.

And you blame whitey for this.....this is the attitudes that need to be changed....and whites can't do the changing......blacks need to change

Do I blame whitey for The Dude being unable to write a sentence? I really can't say, I don't know enough about him. Who does he blame?

They are people like you that don't address the topics and issues being posted,....but only ridicule and make excuses for problems......

Obama and his wife along with millions of other black Americans can "make it".....and make through some of the most prestigious colleges in the nation to become doctors, lawyers, nurses, and PRESIDENTS....
While the vast majority of their brothers can't even speak English using forth grade grammar... all you can do is just blame whitey and ignore the problems while these people suffer.....
You're not a brazenhuzzy, you're an ignorant idiot

This is mostly conscious racism. This guy definitely uses the n word, and it roles quite easily from his tongue. He sends racist emails to his friends. He tells racist jokes at parties. This guy is definitely a racist who knows he's a racist.

I can point out the more-or-less unconscious racists as they post as well.

I think that a fair reading of this thread would conclude that, yes. Poet has been insulted, and racist tropes have been offered. Some outright racist, and others more unconsciously (IMO the second is more insidious). I refer to much of what is going on here as "white splaining". For myself, I seek not to impart wisdom, but to gain it. And how better to gain wisdom than to listen to the experiences of someone who has walked in shoes you will never walk in? That is why I read black authors rather than write books telling black people what they should do, and that is why I listen when black people tell me about racist experiences rather than talk and tell them what is and isn't racist. I've learned a lot that way.

Yes that's it Legion. Me saying black people have been f*cked in this country is my of being subconsciously racist and telling black people I don't want them to post in this thread. You sir are a damn genius. In fact I might just take all your other board names off IA because I don't want to miss any more words of wisdom you may impart.

"Whitey"????? For real????????????????? You're sounding more and more like a victim.

Let's look at your entire post:

"To state the obvious black folk have been f*cked in this country through slavery, discrimination and many other issues. We could go into many examples of economic discrimination that affect blacks to this day. We could show examples of government programs, such as welfare, that promoted tearing the black family apart. But ultimately nothing is going to change until there is a sea change in attitude that comes from within the black community."

It shows amazing (but probably unconscious) racism to be able to construct a list like that, to be able to read the nearly-breathtaking racist posts on this thread from people like Alias, and to conclude that "nothing is going to change until there is a sea change in attitude that comes from within the black community".

Really quite stunning in fact.

So it is stunningly racist to believe there has to be changes made within the black community? Funny thing is enablers like you don't even see the damage you do.

Then your hearing needs to be checked....

Why do you refer to yourself and other whites as "whitey"? Is that what you think that I refer to them as? You've automatically assumed a "victim role"...the objects of "reverse racism", and the after effects of affrimative action, which you see as an affront to hard working white folks, who , through no fault of their own are getting "a raw deal", because they are otherwise "disadvantaged", in light of all of the passes and excuses afforded to ignorant, no-account minorities, who couldn't think their way out of a paper bag. Right.

Biotch, please. We've (black people) have changed because we've had to, to progress and move forward. Whites feel so privileged and entitled, they don't have to do a damn thing. In fact, somelike Rand Paul, want us to go back to pre 1954, and forced segregation, and zero power sharing. Black people have been nothing if they haven't been about change. And adapting.

translation: i'm too afraid to discuss things with my betters

and liar, cawacko is not on ignore, you keep responding to him, just like you did when you claimed i was on ignore before. it is a simple temper tantrum that you throw everytime you get bested in an argument.

The biggest way to change is through education. As long as education is deemed a 'white' thing or those who are trying to succeed in school are deemed 'trying to act/be white' not a lot is going to (really) change. I grew up in Oakland and I saw this first hand. And it's not like I'm the first to say this. As you know if you are black as you claim you are this has been discussed for years within the black community.

As I've stated originally a lot has been done in the past to hold down blacks economically. One example is housing. In years past blacks have been denied loans due to their skin color or not allowed to move into certain neighborhoods. So while many of their white counterparts were able to gain economically from the appreciation of their homes many blacks were denied that opportunity. We could give other examples as well. All that still doesn't change the need to develop a new community mindset towards education and where future opportunities lie.
