No, the CBC's website and the President of the CBC Foundation's statement do not support your view at all.

The CBC has one voice, the voice of the CBC. It is a single entity. The CBC speaks for the CBC. It does not follow that because the CBC has a monolithic voice speaking for itself that the CBC purports to speak for all black people and that leap that you're making is absurd and, yes, offensive. And the fact that you cannot understand this is why we cannot rationally discuss this.

Look, I'm not going to argue with you on this (or, frankly, any other race related subject) any more. How about we agree that, to the extent that the CBC or any of its members purport to speak for all black people, they are full of shit.

You ridicule the difference between "an" and "the", but it's pretty definitive. As members of Congress, they are providing AN African-American perspective to PUBLIC POLICY. That's why they are a Congressional Caucus (and not, say, a worldwide African-American caucus).

i never said they speak for all black people, if my words came across like that, it was by mistake, i thought i was careful in not saying that....they purport to speak about the african american perspective and issues to a global community....they are in essence claiming to speak for african americans....of course i wouldn't think they speak for all black people, i've consistently stated they are american reps
