I don't want to talk about housing in particular, but the overall perception of so many cons here (not you) is that blacks are poor, uneducated takers who only want "free stuff" from the government.

Housing is the number one issue. It's the biggest reason the gap exists.

538 did a report on white republicans and democrats and their racial attitudes. It may surprise you to find out they weren't that far apart. (I'm on my phone so don't have the study in front of me but it's easy to find when googling).

Boards like this either bring out the dregs of society or just bring out the worst in people

Can I tell you something that you probably don't know. Black Caribbean men are mostly homophobic, indeed in Jamaica there are anti-buggery laws that are a leftover from the colonial era. Gay men are forced to live in sewers and open gullies to avoid punishment beatings.
