Rebekah Brooks, the News International chief executive, has resigned after 11 days of mounting political pressure over the phone-hacking scandal.
Brooks announced her decision to News International staff in Wapping just before 10am on Friday, saying her resignation had been accepted by Rupert Murdoch and James Murdoch. She said she no longer wanted to be a "focal point of the debate" surrounding the company's future and reputation.
She stopped short of issuing a personal apology. "As chief executive of the company, I feel a deep sense of responsibility for the people we have hurt and I want to reiterate how sorry I am for what we now know to have taken place," Brooks said in a statement.

She is an evil bitch/bastard, under her editorship the News of the Screws descended to new depths of sleaze. If you think that hacking the voicemail box of a murdered teenager and deleting some entries just to make more room is defensible then words fail me. Rupert Murdoch thought so highly of her, that he made her the CEO of News International and defended her until it was obvious that she had to go.

I wonder what you will be calling Murdoch if the FBI find that one of his media outlets hacked the voicemails of 9/11 relatives? Elizabeth Murdoch said that she has fucked the company so should she grow the fuck up as well?

Is the scum of News Int finally lapping the polluted shores near the south ferry terminal, Manhattan.
 
The major development in all this may be the permanent shuttering of all UK print newspapers owned by the Dirty Digger. Most were unprofitable - he's already closed NOTW, which was at least in the black.

Could The Times days be numbered?

The Times has not been the Times since it went tabloid. But I would not like to see its demise. The Sunday Times will not be missed.

The hackers at News Corp. have become the hackees--surely that's a word in modern parlance--of Anonymous and LulzSec, who released email login details of two former News of the World editors and are threatening to divulge more.






A tweet from an Anonymous member named Alex included e-mail login details for Rebekah Brooks under her maiden name, Rebekah Wade.






Brooks is the former News of the World editor at the center of a major hacking scandal, in which News Corp. newspaper employees accessed the voicemails of the United Kingdom's royal family, celebrities and a murder victim, among others.






Anonymous also revealed an e-mail password hash for former News of the World managing editor Bill Akass along with phone numbers for a few current and former employees of The Sun, another News Corp.-owned paper.






"Sun/News of the world OWNED," Anonymous member Sabu wrote on Twitter. "We're sitting on their emails. Press release tomorrow."
