I don't know if you're a "birther" or not. I've read other posters who said you're a lawyer and was genuinely interested in learning if there's something in the documents that we are either misinterpreting or not understanding. In other words, legalese that only professionals could figure out.

i've gone over it at another board and the law only matters if the facts are true....such as if he was in kenya...i really have no desire to get back into it

i'll give you this though: the electronic copy is not the best evidence....is not a copy of the original....and in this case where people are questioning the validity of the original and/or the electronic copy....a court can order a copy of the original as that is the best evidence...even HI statutes state that

what obama gave us was only prima facie....it is not conclusive

My interest isn't in the birth certificate but in the fact that he was born of an American mother, which seems to confer automatic citizenship according to my understanding of the laws.

No, that is not what I meant, I was responding to your comments that it was not fair to Cambodian and Vietnamese women who had children by US men. I simply meant that it applies to any woman who is not a US citizen that has a child by a US man.

The comment had nothing to do with Obamas mom.

"Corresponding" a bunch of nonsense to me.

The answer to your question is self evident. The state has access to the original, but the one they issue BY LAW is the short form version that we have all seen pictures of. The difference in legitimacy is ZILCH.

fact is it is not the best evidence and is not the original....so in this case, since it is being called into question, the non-original is not deemed legitimate unless obama can rebut with the original....

simple really....that is what is stupid about obama not releasing it like mccain did....

Where does this belief that McCain produced an original document come from? Until factcheck.org holds it in its digital mitts I'm not buying it.
 
Birthers remind me of the swiftboat vets.

Very few of the hundreds of "swiftboat vets" who came forward even saw Kerry's face in Vietnam, yet they all signed on as saying he was lying about his claims and that the official navy records were wrong, because they had an agenda.

I doubt most birthers have seen or even care about real hard evidence. To them, it is just a way to bring down Obama in some way.

it does matter given her age...again, it is all fact driven and since i wasn't there and it is all speculation....

but if you go to INS's website....it does show that if what some claim is true about his mother's age and him being born in kenya etc....then there is a colorable argument to be made he is not qualified
