Bill to Put ‘In God We Trust’ Sign in Every Public School in Pennsylvania

This is excessively stupid. It is going to create more cost for the schools. If they post it they may get sued, if they don't post it in a "prominent" place they might get sued. There is no value in it whatsoever and it does not further the goals of education.

We learned earlier this month Pennsylvania Rep. Rick Saccone (R-obviously), who has a history of sponsoring and supporting unnecessary legislation to promote Christianity, planned to propose legislation to put the words “In God We Trust” in every public school — and possibly every classroom — in the state.

Just let them try. Vic Walczak is an awesome exec director of our ACLU and he'll be on it. I've no doubt he'd prevail, like he did in Kitzmiller v. Dover School District.

Its nothing but self promotion.

the republican party has made itself a star making machine instead of a viable party

Notice nobody on this board will support this idea, that shows you how washed up the Social Conservatives are in this country.

This is a discussion that needs to be had. When we say "God" it doesn't necessarily point out any particular god in my opinion. There are lots of gods. "Freedom of Religion" gives us the freedom to be whatever religion we want to be. Each religion that I know of has a god (I haven't done much research on other religions).

So when we use the term god it should only offend people that don't believe in a god. And they will just have to deal with living in a nation that has Freedom of Religion.

This goes for the pledge and other things too. But if they start asking our students to prey to a specific god, that crosses the freedom line. That's my opinion.

I like to see a complete separation of religion and state, that's all.

But there are plenty of religions that believe in more than one god, would you be okay with the phrase "In Gods we trust" being used by the government? What about those who do not believe in any God? Should the government not simply stay out of it and allow the citizens to be free to have whatever belifes they choose?

You think they would have learned from what the City of Dover, PA had to pay for the morons in their BOE advocating teaching ID.

This is total bullshit since it's not just 'dealing with living in a nation that has Freedom of Religion'....there is no way in Hell (pun intended) that non-believer taxpayers should have to pay for it. OR Christians like myself who ALSO do not believe that this belongs in public schools or that my tax $$ should go towards it.

Lots of schools have prayers for football games and graduation...but those dont COST the taxpayers $$$.

You say certain religions are based on multiple gods and ask if it should be changed to "gods". As I stated before, the term god is vague and does not specify any particular god. Stating "gods" by your text would specify a religion that worships multiple gods.

So you worship god as long as there is no money involved?.......You sound like a typical current Republican to me.

Stop worshiping money. Our coffins will be the same size. Be humble.

Christianity asks you to give away everything including money and "follow him". What do you think about that?

Not at all.

I worship God no matter what anyone else does. I dont need little 'reminder signs.'

However my religion is between me and God and as the Founding Fathers intended, I believe there is no need for any govt institution (or govt supported institution) to promote ANY religion or religious beliefs.

And the Bible and Christianity does not demand we give up all worldly goods to follow Him. It's just a guideline, not a rule, LMAO.

I never claimed to be a perfect Christian. Feel free to point one out for me if you see one.

Freedom of religion necessarily includes freedom to hold no religious views. That might offend you but you are going to have to learn to deal with living in a secular nation.
