Your question is funny - you thought that Trump's idea of banning Muslim travel would have prevented this. Do you have any self-awareness?

I don't think anything "solves" the problem. I think there are ways to reduce risk.

Again, I'm not against gun ownership in general. People can arm themselves.

But, I don't support what a lot of gun activists do, in terms of weapons that should be available & other measures. Someone made the suggestion on one of the cable panels last night that this all could have been prevented if people in the bar were armed, and everyone else cracked up. The mere idea that we'd be safer with people carrying guns in bars, where people get drunk and get into fights, is ludicrous to many, and to me.

one should definitely not carry while getting drunk, but what about someone who is not getting drunk?

I'm not sure how you regulate that.

Frankly - and I know you & I will disagree on this, which is fine - I'm not okay with just anyone being able to carry, anywhere. I've seen too much road rage & issues with temper even among those who are sober. I don't think the argument that it might lessen the impact of some of these incidents is without merit, but I also think it would open up many more situations to unanticipated violence.

We're a volatile, emotional species. I have seen even some of the calmest people see red and lose it. I wouldn't trust them w/ a gun in those situations.

I didn't say any new policy would have prevented it.

So you think the ONLY way to reduce risk of dying at the hands of radical muslimes is gun control? Because that seems to be the only cord you know
