Bill Clinton’s Private Words to Paul Ryan Caught on Tape

LOL...yeah criticism without an alternative... how refreshing.~ The point, again, is that he made it clear that dems used medicare as a political football.

His "public comments".

"You shouldn't draw the conclusion that the New York race means that nobody can do anything to slow the rate of Medicare costs," said Mr. Clinton, speaking with News Hour senior correspondent Gwen Ifill at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation-sponsored 2011 Fiscal Summit in Washington, D.C.

"I'm afraid that Democrats will draw the conclusion that because Congressman Ryan's proposal, I think, is not the best one, that we shouldn't do anything. I would completely disagree with that. I think there are lots of things you can do to bring down Medicare costs," Mr. Clinton said.

While he applauded Rep. Ryan's attempt to tackle some of those problems, he concluded, "On the merits, it doesn't work." He went on to say, "I hope that's the lesson we'll draw from the New York election, not that we can't talk about Medicare and that we have to tippy-toe around, but that we have got to have a system that brings health costs with our competitors."

When asked point-blank if Rep. Ryan's overall approach to deficit reduction was dead on arrival, the former president responded, "I think he's wrong to say no matter what happens and no matter what the circumstances are, we won't touch taxes."

Clinton criticizes it because everyone knows a Republican solution will involve some people being ineligible. That's always the Repub solution. Rather than negotiate drug prices or raise taxes or seek other ways to keep the plan viable it's always "cut the plan".

Imagine having a plan where everything from a minor respiratory infection to a broken leg to heart by-pass surgery was covered 100%. There was no longer any need to have a "medical account". Wouldn't people be willing to pay a bit more in taxes knowing they never have to worry about any medical expenses?

No forms to fill out. No panels. No deductibles. Just them and their doctor deciding on what needs to be done and doing it. That's government medical.

wow....anyone that in the fuckin' bag must literally bleed Koolade....you're so brainwashed with the liberal/socialist propaganda, it's laughable.....
the evidence, world-wide, shows government medical works ?......you need to reexamine the evidence from some sources other than far left wing....

I tried to convince a queer friend of mine how sex with a women was so much better than what he was doing and know what a useless endeavor it was....so I won't even attempt to debate this with you, you're queer for Obama, Democrats, and socialism.....

Try and follow along here. Every country started out with private medical. Every country. Then some countries changed to government plans. Not one country has reverted to the "pay or suffer" system. The vast majority of citizens in those countries with government medical insist their government keep their medical plan.

What more proof is necessary? Every country had private medical plans and those that changed to government plans never went back to the old system and the citizens in those countries with government plans insist the government keep them.

What is it don't you understand about that sentence? Medical changed from private to government and the citizens like it. No exception. Over two dozen countries, virtually every industrialized nation, have government plans and the vast majority of citizens insist on keeping their plan.

Again, what are you having difficulty understanding?

Again, Clinton, did not disagree with Ryan's medicare plan...he just bitched about the need to add raising taxes; indeed it's obvious he thinks that dems. are just gonna play political football with mdicare. Ryan's plan is up for debate...the problem is dems ain't debating it or offering any kind of solution-all they are doing is lying about what Ryan's plan does with regards to medicare.

The Dems aren't interested in debating Ryan's plan because there is only one permanent solution. Medicare and Medicaid and regular medical coverage have to be combined into one government medical plan, otherwise, there will be endless discussions involving all three plans.

A plan for the poor. A plan for the elderly. A plan for the middle class. Throw in a subsidy "here" and an eligibility requirement "there". On and on it goes for another 50 years.

I think it's important to keep in mind Clinton is not the Democratic leader. Obama made it clear at the start he wasn't interested in tired, worn out ideas. Even the best solution to medicare will result in some people falling through the cracks as long as it's not combined into a full, government plan.

There's still a few years to go and during those years perspective will change as more and more of ObamaCare takes effect. As time passes people will realize that one plan to cover everyone, just like other countries have, will be the best overall solution. Once the lies and distortions are shown to be exactly what they are change will come relatively quickly.

Time is on the Dem's side as people will realize the benefits of ObamaCare and government medical as different aspects of the plan go into effect. It's all coming together. :)

Again, you're not paying attention cause Bill Clinton did state specifically IN PUBLIC that he opposes Ryancare as it would end medicare as we know it. He then stated, as he did to Ryan, that doing nothing was not an option for Democrats and he then stated that Republicans are not serious about reforming medicare if taxes were off the table. He said that, he said it publicly and it was all over the TV yesterday in the morning news/politics programs. You just weren't paying attention is all.

President Clinton was right on all three counts and I say, go ahead, lets have a full public debate on Ryancare and lets see how much public support it can gather.

You are off your rocker Apple... Obamacare is such a boondoggle that business friends of Pelosi are already submitting and getting requests for waivers. The program is a disaster! WE like Canada and the UK cannot afford universal health care. Medicare and Medicaid are perfect examples of medical entitlements that are economically unsustainable.

ANY change to Medicare would 'end Medicare as we know it' you douche bag. The 'he gunna end medicare' is simply FEAR MONGERING.

The Democrats are clearly trying to use the New York election to "show" that everybody is satisfied with what they've been doing. Ignoring poll after poll that shows that people prefer spending cuts. Bill is clearly stating that if they do nothing to curb spending, and seriously, they will shrivel in the next election.

It really is time for, "It's the Spending, Stupid!" bumper stickers.
