Man, what a breath of fresh air that was. For starters, Biden actually cares about people - his compassion and concern for others is apparent anytime there is an interactive event like this. Trump's supporters used to say he "speaks like us," but Biden actually WAS like us, with bills he couldn't pay and worries about finances. He really listens to people and their concerns in a forum like that.

And he didn't attempt to candycoat anything or dismiss hard questions outright. They had questions from both his own supporters and those who voted for Trump. When the latter asked a tough question, he didn't say it was "nasty" or try to marginalize the individual in any way.

One Trump voter asked about the minimum wage increase and how it might negatively impact his small business. Biden wasn't dismissive, and he didn't try to candycoat it or gloss over the guy's concerns like Trump would with generalities and unfounded optimism. He acknowledged that it was a legit concern, cited studies that showed it could have the opposite effect, and talked about implementing the change gradually to minimize negative impact. He knew all aspects of the issue (another big change from the last 4 years).

What a change.

So much of "The Emperor's New Clothes" here.

He was a mushed mouth demented sundowning mess up there. He would ramble off on tangents forget where he was on stage, cooper had to save his ass several times.

He's not going to make 4 years.

That is not true. Rightys can believe what they want, but it was refreshing not seeing a president fighting with people who ask him questions.

you guys on the news were swooning for him as he rambled nonsensically and off topic on every question. See CNN would stack if with people who hate trump, for biden they stacked with people adoring him. you all treated it like a rock concert, but the feeble old man on stage looked like he was in cognitive crisis.

Did Biden tell somebody in the audience to fuck off, or many called them a "dog-faced pony soldier," or maybe just a "you don't know shit!" comment like he's done so many times before? Biden wouldn't know civil discourse if it ran him over in the street. The man's an asshole with a capital ASSHOLE. Sure, Trump is a world class troll and arrogant jerkwad but he didn't go around insulting voters to their face, particularly in person the way Joke Biden does.

Not a reality-based comment.

There is no comparison whatsoever between Biden & Trump on the topic of civility. It's a non-starter.

toss a bunch of softballs and it's easy to be civil
start accusing Biden of corruption, like Trump was accused of being a Russian asset and see how long Biden smiles

CNN is slammed over Biden's softball town hall: Anderson Cooper asks 'What's it like living in the White House?' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9270271/CNN-slammed-Bidens-softball-town-hall.html
but FAILS to question President's claim there wasn't a COVID-19 vaccine when he took office

*The 75-minute town hall hosted by CNN's Anderson Cooper in Milwaukee on Tuesday night was Joe Biden's first since becoming president
*Furious social media users have accused Cooper of only asking Biden softball questions about his COVID-19 response and a few other policies
*They pointed out that Biden faced almost no interruption from Cooper while answering and there was minimal follow-up on his responses
*None of the audience members who were called on to ask Biden questions were Republicans
*Critics were quick to point out that Cooper failed to call out Biden for saying that there was no COVID-19 vaccine when he took office
*Biden wasn't asked about Democrat New York Gov Andrew Cuomo and nursing home deaths or the resignation of his Deputy Press Secretary TJ Ducklo

What a change.

True, and Harris’s interview on TV this morning, same thing, answered questions without blaming others, no references to “evil” or “traitors,” and even when asked being a prior prosecutor about pursuing Trump legally she commented that she and the President were focused on the issues confronting them and not what happened in the past

Definitely a change, and a good one
