Choosing that day is going to affect morale, as every soldier there knows the date was set for as you said "optics", I do not support this at all and think President Biden should have stuck to the original plan with movement in a month or two either way at most. There is no reason to drag this out until 11 sept.

The Taliban are a terrorist organization and the US does not make agreements with terrorist organizations.

But, I don't think the US will totally pull out of Afghanistan unless the Afghanistan government and Taliban have some kind of PEACE TREATY.

This was why the Military leaders had a problem with Trump's way of leaving- as they didn't want the Taliban to wait us out and try to take back over the country in a coup after we left, and surely would, and still will if we leave now and anytime in the future.

So I do not believe we will ever be totally out of Afghanistan! We will always have some element of military operations going on there!
