Right now, that is true. Monkeypox is known to be airborne too, and minor mutations could make that the major transmitter. Even if you do not care about gay men, you should want the medical community to keep its vigil against Monkeypox, to protect the rest of us.

NB: Funny that a "wishy-washy", liberal like you should be quoting Daniel Patrick Moynahan, Walt. Moynahan was a young, hot-shot, research sociologist in the 1960's and 1970's. He and Richard Nixon were buddies,BFFs. In fact, Moynahan had direct access to Nixon 24/7. He was the first academic to confirm a strong link between Black family breakdown and high rates of Black social pathology across America (poverty, delinquency, crime, educational failure, high unemployment, welfare dependency, etc.) Nixon trusted Moynahan implicitly (which was unusual, as Nixon had a paranoid personality and - with the exception of Henry Kissinger -rarely trusted anyone.Full Stop. Strangely, as well, Moynahan, was known to be liberal- leaning in terms of his personal politics, and Nixon hated "Hippies" and liberals with a passion.
It is hard to accept your claims, when you repeatedly misspell his name. All five times, you misspelled his name. You do not give a source for your claims, but whatever the source, they did not bother to spell his name correctly.
I strongly doubt anyone was buddies with Nixon, except maybe his wife. Nixon did not form close personal relations. Moynihan certainly never had "24/7" access to Nixon.
Moynihan was in the inner circle of the White House team for the first two years. He took a strong pro-benefits position, which was against the majority of the administration... But that Nixon tended to support. He was purged from the White House by Haldeman, and pretty much the rest of the administration. Nixon did nothing to keep him.
Almost everyone in the Nixon Administration was completely against Moynihan's positions, except Nixon himself. That is not to say that Nixon supported Moynihan's positions entirely, but just that he did not completely oppose his positions.
That was not trust. Nixon allowed Moynihan to be purged from the White House, because Nixon did not trust Moynihan. Nor did Nixon trust Kissinger. You can hear from Nixon's tapes that he did not trust Kissinger. Nixon trusted no one.
Hippies were not liberals, at least not was considered liberals at the time. Nixon sometimes spoke out against liberals, but actually was close to many liberals. He really wanted to have universal healthcare, and expanded Welfare benefits. He tended more towards government helping the poor, but also wanted to cut government spending a bit. He was not as strongly against government spending as Reagan and other later Republicans. It was a consideration, not a cause for Nixon.
Nixon wanted to be loved by the Hippies, and just about everyone else. When he was hated instead, he returned hatred. It was a much stranger emotional dynamic than just saying Nixon hated the Hippies.
