Biden tells execs US needs to invest, lead in computer chips

Maybe we should free our Merchant Fleet of 'State Policy' and adopt a 'Open Market' approach. You know, let Owners build their ships anywhere? Right. Let Owners hire the best Mariners? Who would be against THAT?

Well, ... unless you were in one of the 'State Protected' Industries that favor Americans ... and America.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. As long as they are built to ABS standards.

And the full bore “I hate government” slobber returns

We know republicans hate government

Your racist nut bags tried to kill it on the 6th

Sounds like a government fix for a government created problem.

It’s what the government does best.

Corporations go where it's the best economic environment.
Like, we could build our Nuclear subs overseas, ... it would be a lot cheaper. Think of the Money we could save. Think of Shareholder profits.

Course, some (not you) think of 'America First' and what is good for America ... and Americans.

But what about deregulation

The free market means free

People should be able to build them however they want

But every living human knows that would be a disaster

Because everything needs to be regulated to keep everyone safe

Trump looks at Sailor with all his 'Rules and Regulations' ... and just shakes his head. SAD

Why would you let good jobs go elsewhere and in so doing open up elements of by our infrastructure to sabatoge

Ships registered in those countries are not built to ABS standards. As a rule.

What is it with all your RULES?!?

Some ships will sink. Seamen die. Try to look at the Cost Benefit Analyst. Think about the MONEY, Sailor. (I'm not sure you're looking at The Big Picture)

Never spent to much time at sea have you Jack?

A crews safety comes before shareholder value. Believe it or not most vessel owners feel that way.

(shaking head)

This is why manning Merchant ships with Filipinos, Chinese, and Bangladesh crewman is popular.

You have a Bad Attitude, Sailor!

Probably because they are good at their respective jobs. I would think. A good Mariner is not decided by their country of origin, it is by their skill.

Translation: 'Yes, we should abandon the Jones Act and any 'State Support' of the American Merchant Fleet. Yes, I promise to give up my job in favor of Foreigners. They need it more than me, my children, and my wife'.

Corporations used to pay children under 10 to carry molten buckets of glass because they were cheap

Until laws made it stop
